Radio Kurtodrome 99
Today a bit of a special edition: thirty minutes of tracks you can download from MySpace.

BUILT TO SPILL - Liar (MySpace)
You In Reverse was released in April. Ever since we lamented it's becoming harder and harder to find legal MP3s, as most bands seemed more interested in offering their music on iTunes or MySpace (preferrably as a stream rather than a download). That's when we got the idea to make this a MySpace special. Half an hour of downloadable music on MySpace. You'll have to make a little more effort than usually on Radio Kurtodrome, but the music is worth it.

PINBACK - Penelope (MySpace)
A Radio Kurtodrome classic, but just too old to have been featured on Radio Kurtodrome, something we'd like to make up for now. Pinback are also on MySpace and allow you to listen to one song and listen/download three (including "Fortress", which we did feature a couple of years ago).

COEM - Reply (MySpace)
Kinky Star Records [and COEM] want you to download "Reply", the second single from COEM's upcoming album. "Put it on your mp3-player. Burn it on cd. Make mix tapes. Tell your friends. Add it to your profile. Much obliged!" You're welcome, mates. COEM are going to release Move/The Mountain, a title that may or may not have been inspired by that Shamen track. While Move is promised to be the band's "most direct rock songs" the second part of the album (The Mountain) is a session the band made for a Flemish radio show.

CURSIVE - Bad Sects (MySpace)
Cursive have been surprising us for many years now, from their eerie and fragile beauty of songs like 'The Recluse' (surely an essential track for everyone, no?) to songs so loud they make our ears bleed. The best way to describe 'Bad Sects' is by calling it bipolar, as it constantly moves from sweet to furious.

THE FAINT - Desperate Guys (MySpace)
All four tracks The Faint have put up on their MySpace page are available as download. Thanks, guys! If we hadn't played "Worked up so sexual" before we would've chosen that song, but we chose "Desperate Guys" because it helped us go from the rock bands to dance bands. Once again: thanks, guys!

CHICKS ON SPEED - My Space (MySpace)
The Chicks are back and continue writing their warped chronicals of our time with (probably) the first song about MySpace. Available on MySpace. You have to go there and download the song from the Chicks' page.

CANSEI DE SER SEXY - Let's Make Love... (MySpace)
Cansei De Ser Sexy (Tired of Being Sexy) is promoted as the Brazilian answer to LCD Soundsystem, which we find isn't a completely accurate description. The band also recorded 'Meeting Paris Hilton', which flattered the self-obsessed bimbo (not realizing it wasn't really meant as flattery). The band has three songs available as download, but we chose "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above".

SUICIDE - Ghost Rider (MySpace)
Still not convinced we're living in retro times? Then play this song, which was made in 1977. Suicide may have been around for thirty years, but they don't mind giving a few of their tracks available as downloads. Cheers, mates! If you don't know your musical history well enough to have heard about Suicide, the band's page also features an elaborate history. That is all for this edition of Radio Kurtodrome. We hope to see you soon!
