Radio Kurtodrome 12
What's that noise? Oh, it's just us freaking out. An edition of Radio Kurtodrome that's a bit louder than usual. And features more silly links.
THE STUCK-UPS - Last Chance (D)
The Stuck-Ups began in Seattle, Washington as an all girl punk band in 1998. The line up kept changing until its current incarnation of Tiffany, Meredith, Justin, and Nora. They self-released a four song 7" in January, 2001 and two albums on the Sympathy For The Record Industry label.
THE HOUSE OF DESTRUCTO - Shittalker
Dutch trashrock band with the occasional lick of garage. We nominated this last year. Yes, we did.
PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES - Speakers Push The Air (D)
We found this MP3 over at the excellent Insound site. Equally excellent are Pretty Girls Make Graves. "Liquid Courage" deserved being mentioned in our Democratische 99 of last year. This song is a bit softer, but then again: define soft.
KHAN - Fishies Fuck (D)
For his 2001 album No Comprendo Khan asked for the help of some vocalists. No points for guessing who's the main vocalist here. The album was released by Matador Records.
BIKINI KILL - I Like Fucking (D)
There's probably no need to introduce you to Bikini Kill. But we would like to apologize for that mediocre link between Bikini Kill and Khan.
SHELLAC - Watch Song (D)
Note to self: why has Radio Kurtodrome featured a Shellac song? Surely any chance to put Steve Albini in the spotlight should be grabbed. So listen to "Watch Song" (no pun intended) from 2000's "1000 Hurts" album (out on Touch & Go).
COP SHOOT COP - Baby Broke Down (D)
Vocalist Tod Ashley of Cop Shoot Cop now provides vocals for Firewater, who were featured two editions ago. This song (as found on the CSC fansite) was offered to the Johnny Mnemonic soundtrack, but it was refused. Some people, eh? Cop Shoot Cop: gone, but not forgotten...
THE JESUS LIZARD - Fly On The Wall (D)
... much like the Jesus Lizard. Straight from Epitonic comes this song, with Duane Denison on guitar. After The Jesus Lizard split up, Denison took his skills to Firewater (yes, we like silly links). "I can never get any rest" is weird to hear from a band that's no longer there. Also, it's the last song of this Radio Kurtodrome. Get some rest!
