Radio Kurtodrome 80: Hush and Push
Occasionally a Radio Kurtodrome gets a subtitle. And this one is called "Hush and Push" because of the press releases we read about Patrick Wolf and Audrey. And let's face it, it could be said about all those tracks: COEM was called "odd but heart-warming". And isn't an ode to onion soup equally comforting as alienating? (don't really know, never tasted that onion soup of hers) We hush you, we stun you, we offer downloads and streams for more than 30 minutes (even over 34 minutes, to compensate for last time's shorter edition). We are Radio Kurtodrome and this is edition 80. Enjoy!

COEM - Through Tired Eyes (D)
Coem, short for Coin Operated Entertainment Machine, and the German press introduced the band this way: "They always come from Belgium, these odd but heartwarming songs." Thanks to their label Evil Penguin we are able to offer this heartwarming download.

PATRICK WOLF - This Weather
Once more, we pillage the VPRO site for another stream. But we have to. We signed an unuttered pact to promote Patrick Wolf. Wind in the Wires is Patrick's new album and is something you should own, if only for (our ex-Video of the Week) "The Libertine". Said VPRO's Leonieke Daalder: "Patrick Wolf has the ability to almost hush you to sleep at first, only to make you realise you've ended up in a nightmare. It hushes. It scratches. It shocks, irritates and intrigues." Quite right.

AUDREY - Box, and Fights (D)
Orust is an island near Göteborg and it's where Audrey come from. Four young women who are signed to SinnbusRecords. Said the press blurb: "Rebecka Kristiansson, Victoria Skoglund, Emelie Molin und Anna Tomlin do not want to achieve instant effects. They hesitate, clinging to a beautiful moment, just to suddenly, softly, slowly and forcefully stun you and knock you over. 'I push you', and there is nothing cute about it, 'with all my power!'" Not sure whether the girls find themselves wholeheartedly behind this press release, still don't you see similarities with the Patrick Wolf review? Audrey's debut EP is called Audrey, contains five songs and opens with this track.

CAMERA OBSCURA - Marathon Not A Sprint
We already introduced you to the two Robert Burns songs on Camera Obscura's latest EP I Love My Jean. The third song on that EP was written by Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura herself and we feel we also needed to introduce you to that song. It's called "Marathon Not A Sprint". Camera Obscura are signed to Elefant.

LOU BARLOW - Home (D)
"Home" from Emoh is brought to you by Better Propaganda and Lou Barlow, 'famous' from Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion. Barlow's discography is one including many names, some obscuring the fact he made them (almost) on his own, but now he released an album under his own name and little else. Fans of Sebadoh, Sentridoh and The Folk Implosion know that it doesn't matter under which name Barlow releases it, as long as he releases it.

EMMA McGLYNN - Impatience (D)
Emma's debut album is called Kamikaze Birdie. The note underneath the songs tells us "All songs remain the property of Impatio Sound and Emma McGlynn, but feel free to copy them and send them to anyone, and burn them, and play them and do whatever you like with them." We suggest enjoying them. Let us also draw your attention to her biography: "I started playing piano age 7 when my mum bought a piano for £100. She soon realised I was better at it and let me take charge of it. Long time passed with stuff which would bore you all....... Blah blah blah,... [...] I also performed solo shows under my own name. So now we are up to date. I came home and started a record label (Impatio sound) with my best friend. We released our first EP which you can still find around and started work on the debut album. Now things have moved on again and I have recruited the Monorails rhythm section which consists of Joe Jardine (bass) and Kevin 'sticks' Behan (drums). We play gigs and release records. Thanks for listening. em"

HER SPACE HOLIDAY - The Luxury of Loneliness (Boom Bip Remix) (D)
Both Boom Bip and Her Space Holiday are signed to Mush Records and hey presto, another remix has been born. This can be found on the album The Young Machines Remixed.

22 PISTEPIRKKO - Onion Soup (D)
Drops and Kicks, the latest 22 Pistepirkko album, is on the brink of being released, which is the sort of news we always welcome. Better still, on their website the band are offering 11 songs in a demo or alternative version, just for you to download. They called this webalbum Eleven. "Onion Soup" has been here before, but now here is an alternative version. A new version of Radio Kurtodrome should be online in approximately 10 days. Ciao!
