Radio Kurtodrome 72
30 minutes of online music featuring one stream and a number of downloads. Most of this edition is pretty mellow, much like the time of the year. Enjoy!

VIA TANIA - The rising (D)
Let's kick off edition 72 with a song from an album that was highly praised by most of the radio show we tend to listen to... "Via Tania's debut album has been completed. Album personnel features Doug McCombs (Tortoise, 11th Dream Day), John Herndon (Tortoise) and Howe Gelb of Giant Sand. Along with production by Casey Rice (Liz Phair, the Promise Ring ) Prefuse-73 adds beats and textures to via Tania's already innovative output. Under a Different Sky is an exhilarating sound experience geared towards the forward thinking listener." (quote and MP3: Insound)

SONS AND DAUGHTERS - Johnny Cash (stream)
No, they didn't know Sons and Daughters was an Australian soap. Meet Sons and Daughters, Glasgow's latest prestige project featuring two members from Arab Strap. Their tribute to Johnny Cash (a stream offered to you by the VPRO) was finished a month before the man died, so he presumably never heard it. No reason why you shouldn't... Unless you're like another Glasgow band, Aereogramme, who think Glasgow is so depressing bands like Franz Ferdinand and Sons and Daughters have nothing to be cheerful about. And then they call 'us' pessimists!

DAAU & DONKEY DIESEL - Catfish Blues (D)
The Antwerp collective DAAU (short for "Die Anarchistische Abendunderhaltung", named after a Herman Hesse quote) have been existing for a decade now, offering their unique and obstinate sort of music. It was their stubbornness that led them to be signed by Sony Classics for their second album and their stubbornness that got them fired after one cd. After a debut full of instrumental tracks with classical instruments (with songs sampling work from the likes of dEUS and The Doors), they chose poppier ways. "Catfish Blues" is one of their latest songs, available here in a collaboration with Donkey Diesel (a band with DAAU's Buni Lenski on violin). Lost me somewhere? Good! After all "Entrance makes you lose your mind" is DAAU's motto.

JENS LEKMAN - Rocky Dennis Farewell Song To The Blind Girl (D)
Earlier this year Secret Canadian released Jens Lekman's Rocky Dennis EP. If you missed out on last edition's dose of irony by Jens Lekman, just look at the EP's track titles: "Rocky Dennis Farewell Song to the Blind Girl" (featured here), "Rocky Dennis in Heaven", "Jens Lekman's Farewell Song to Rocky Dennis" and "If You Ever Need a Stranger". Subtle enough?

EFTERKLANG - Kloy Gyn (D)
From the land of Under Byen, meet Efterklang. We were planning on giving you a bio, but their biography was password-protected (huh??), we were planning on presenting you a song from their debut album, Tripper, but they only offered one snippet. You wonder why we still try, really... Anyway, here's a track from last year's EP Springer. Listen and you'll know why we tried.

GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS - Merge a vessel a harbour (D)
Thans to Fargo Records, we're able to offer you a downloadable track frm Great Lake Swimmers who are currently touring in Belgium and the Netherlands.

TARA JANE O'NEIL - The Poisoned Mine (D)
Tara Jane O'Neil's album You Sound, Reflect is out on Touch And Go Records. And speaking of going... we'll see you in 10 days. Ciao!
