Radio Kurtodrome 5
In the first edition we selected one Spinvis song and guess which song Spinvis chose as his latest single? Which only proves that even mediocre websites occasionally get it right. Thirty minutes of music are coming your way. What do you mean, "that's a lie"? Okay, you're right: it's only 29:38. (If you spot a * behind the band's name, that means the song's downloadable.)
MAESTRO ECHOPLEX* - My eyes are disconnected from my head is disconnected from my body
Maestro Echoplex should've kicked off the first edition of Radio Kurtodrome (but their site was offline at the time). Now that edition five finally includes "My Eyes...", Maestro Echoplex is no more. "John Guilt formerly wrote and performed under the guise of Maestro Echoplex." So don't look out for Maestro Echoplex, but look for John Guilt instead. (copyright: John Guilt)
BAXTER DURY - Beneath The Underdog [LINK BROKEN]
He might be the son of Ian Dury, but their music isn't that next of kin. Rather than a spasticus autisticus, Baxter Dury is a melancholic creature. Len Parrot's Memorial Gift is out on Rough Trade.
THE RESIDENTS - Ghost Child [LINK BROKEN]
It's spooky out there! The Residents have been mad and around for 30 years, making records that sound like... err... The Residents.
THE FAINT* - Agenda Suicide
It's still spooky out here! Not only do The Faint sound like they killed themselves in the 80s, but their album's called Dance Macabre. This song is an ex-Video of the Week, but well worth to check out without moving images, not? (Copyright: CitySlang)
STEREO TOTAL* - A la sortie du lyce
Stereo Total have gone online and to celebrate, the Berlin-based Eurotrash combo have put an album full of rare or never released tracks on their site. We've chosen the sixth song, which they describe as "a song about a home for pensioners, that is built next to a school. The girl in the song gets molested by old daddies." That's enough to get us interested. (Copyright: Stereo Total)
BRIGHT EYES - Method Acting
Bright Eyes is Conor Oberst and his album Lifted is really special. We've chosen an uptempo number. (Copyright: VPRO)
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE* - Hindsight
In 1997, before Death Cab for Cutie was a band, Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla made an 8-song cassette. You can play these songs with chords is embryonic Death Cab. Because 8 songs aren't enough for DCFC, you'll also find 10 unreleased songs on the album. (Copyright: Insound)
MS. JOHN SODA - Go Check [LINK BROKEN]
While Neon Golden is still one of the best albums of 2002, The Notwist's release suddenly gets fierce competition from Ms. John Soda. Marcus Acher is a member of both bands and in Ms. John Soda he's joined by Stefanie Bhm, who plays keyboards in a band called Couch (not that that name rings a bell). No P. or D. is Ms. John Soda's first album. (Copyright: Amazon.de)

This was the first brand new edition of Radio Kurtodrome, next time we'll add two more test shows. If you own one of the websites and feel we've broken your copyright by linking to the songs, please let us know. All we want is to promote these bands we think are great and direct links to the songs seemed the best way to do so.
