Radio Kurtodrome 52
New songs. Old songs. Downloadable songs. Legal songs. This is Radio Kurtodrome, just over half an hour of music on the internet. Welcome!

SUFJAN STEVENS - All Good Naysayers, Speak Up! Or Forever Hold Your Peace (D)
It's been awhile since we played any Sufjan Stevens. The man has a new album out, full of outtakes for his first in a series of 50 records dedicated to all the American states. State n1 was Michigan. This song, a Stereolab soundalike, is from that album (released by Asthmatic Kitty). The new album is called Seven Swans, but that site was currently off the net, so we had to grab an older song. Not that we're complaining...

THE SHINS - Kissing The Lipless (D)
Chutes Too Narrow is the often praised new album by The Shins, which is out on Sub Pop Records, the label that brought us The Postal Service last year. Check out this year's hype.

BERG SANS NIPPLE - A Free (D)
Finally some Berg Sans Nipple on the net. You can find this track on their album Form of..., but who are Berg Sans Nipple? Their site explains it all: "The franco-american duo BERG SANS NIPPLE consists of (but is not limited to) Lori Sean Berg and Shane Aspegren. The former is a suave Frenchman from the dirty rues of gay Parieee and the latter is a lanky Scandinavian-looking fellow who actually hails from the dusty plains of Nebraska. Once rumored to have been Siamese twins separated at birth (according to them, their relationship is really much closer to that of Ghost Dog and the ice cream vendor), the reality is only more mundane at first glance: two kids (both best known as drummers) trapped in a tangled mess of cables, keyboards, samplers, horns, bells, machines and drums."

AZURE RAY - Seven Days (D)
And so we welcome back Azure Ray, this time with a song from an older album, Burn and Shiver. Which proves that, even before Hold on love, Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor were well worth checking out.

BLONDE REDHEAD - Elephant Woman
Of course we're playing this halfway through an episode of Radio Kurtodrome, but just imagine just having bought Misery is a butterfly, Blonde Redhead's first 4AD release and hearing this as the very first track. Think about it, it's a beautiful thought. It might also be good to point out that Elephant Woman is also an EP you can buy online at 4AD's website.

DE PORTABLES - How It Feels (D)
To Belgium now for a combo called De Portables. They've been around since 1996, but their latest album, Girls Beware, is not as loud as their earlier stuff. People who insist on labelling file the band under 'post-rock'. They're distributed by a label with the unlikely name of (K-RAA-K).

DEERHOOF - Milk man (D)
More from Deerhoof as promised. Because we like their latest release, Milk Man. Instead of saying Deerhoof experiment with genres, we might as well just let you hear this song. Deerhoof have posted this song on their page of the Puzzling Music Archive. Go there to find much more Deerhoof. That's all for this edition of Radio Kurtodrome. We hope you've enjoyed it. See you soon.
