Radio Kurtodrome 79
And... we're back. Prepare yourself for half an hour (okay, just over 29 minutes, but this combination was perfect, so we didn't want to add another song) which will bring you from two sisters of 10 and 12 to German electrodoom with medieval sounds interwoven. Only on Radio Kurtodrome. Enjoy the one stream and the many legal downloads!
SMOOSH - Massive Cure (D)
We first drew your attention to Smoosh in edition 61 (I think that was in July 2004) and told you their album would soon be released. Soon was September 2004 and the album is called She Like Electric. And in case you don't remember: Smoosh are two sisters, Chloe (12) and Asya (10). But label Pattern 25 warns you: "All this attention has little to do with the fact that these ladies’ youth is impressive and abnormal--anyone who investigates Smoosh out of a curiosity for novelty is quickly put in their place."
ENON - Kanon (D)
Insound were kind enough to offer this download of Enon from their latest album Lost Marbles and Exploded Evidence, a collection of rare songs from the beginning of Enon to now. Whereas usually this sort of release is mainly one for the fans, we found Lost Marbles and Exploded Evidence so highly enjoyable we'd recommend it to anyone. Enon are currently touring the US.
LOGH - Destinymanifesto (D)
Swedish Logh are back with a new album. A Sunset Panorama is the title of the new album.
THE ARCADE FIRE - Neighborhood #2 (Laika) (D)
With many thanks to the BetterPropaganda site for putting this online, we can introduce you (if still necessary) to one of the first hypes of 2005: The Arcade Fire. In the US they were already hyped in 2004 and the BetterPropaganda site lists The Arcade Fire as the currently most downloaded song in the rock section. The Arcade Fire have released an album entitled Funeral.
13&GOD - Soft Atlas (D)
The 13&God LP is - according to the press blurb - "the musical monument that is the - the auspicious meeting of minds and bodies that emerged from a German September shared by anticon's themselves and their friends in the Notwist". 13&God are signed to Anticon.
AIRBORN AUDIO - Bright Lights (D)
"Welcome to Airborn Audio, your new provider for the finest new sounds." Well, if they're saying it themselves, it must be true. Signed to Ninja Tune, Airborn Audio will (together with LCD Soundsystem) wave the 2005 edition of Domino goodbye on April 14. We will be there.
DALEK - Distorted Prose (D)
Bad-mouthing people tell you we don't like rap. Actually, we see the difference between rap and the bubblegum-based bunch of irritating idiots who call themselves rap artists, but are only women-abusing major label monkeys with a few samples that allow them to make another hit record. Enough ranted, Dalek (yes, there should be an Umlaut on the a, but for some reason Yahoo can't handle these anymore) are back ith a new release, Absence. "Distorted Prose" opens the new record and boy, is this a haunting track!
HEIMATAERDE - Deus Lo Volt
Of course I had to listen to a band which contained 5 letters of my last name. And the description "combining electrodoom and medieval sounds" helped too. Think of Rammstein meeting The Name of the Rose and you'll have 1) a faint idea of what I'm talking about and 2) offended the band without any doubt.
The VPRO discovered this and offered it as a stream: regular thanks. That's it for this edition, we'll be back with the hottest tunes from the 14th to the 22nd Century in ten days. Amen!
