Radio Kurtodrome 47: BROKEN HEARTS & BROKEN STRINGS
Weirdly enough it's Kevin Blechdom that sparked off this live edition of Radio Kurtodrome, especially her special cover of "I Will Always Love You". After all this Radio Kurtodrome was published on Valentine's Day. Three concerts found on VPRO's 3VOOR12 website. Many thanks!
PATRICK WOLF - London Calling concert 7-11-2003 (35 min)
It was an expensive purchase, but I ordered Patrick Wolf's "Lycantrophy" via import. Faith And Industry don't seem to find local distributors for one the most promising breakthrough artists of 2003. Patrick was 19 when he made this record and it's impressive. In November he got a chance to play at the London Calling festival in Holland, where he was only accompanied by one girl (Eva). "Bloodbeat" (the second song) will be featured in the next Radio Kurtodrome edition and "The Childcatcher" (12 min. into the concert) is only a bit less impressive than the album version which made it to the top 20 of our Democratische 99. Try and find the album in a record store near you.

SOPHIA - Club 3VOOR12 concert 26-11-2003 (31 min)
"I Left You", "Swept Back", "So Slow" and "Desert Song N2" are the only songs in this half-hour-long session. That 'live' means that anything can go wrong is proven by Sophia: Robin Propper-Sheppard broke a string in the very first song, which may be inconvenient if you're playing an acoustic set. P.W. Long was around and mended Robin's guitar during the second song. And then another string broke during "Desert Song N2"... Robin: "This is why I don't have my own website: to save myself the humiliation." Songs of beauty and long pauses, here's Sophia live in Amsterdam.

THOU - Club Lek concert 16-10-2002 (20 min)
We interrupt this live special for an important announcement: Thou's new album, I Like Girls In Russia, is out since this week. On HA'Records, the tiny record company of a concert hall! Even though the producer was none other than John Parish. Yes, th John Parish. So, to celebrate this new (and fantastic - of course I bought it the first day it was in the shops) record, here's an older concert from their Elvis Or Betty Boop period. Thou are from Ghent (Belgium), but managed to be distributed in America, because their third album (Put us in tune) was released on Dave Sardy's See Thru Broadcasting label.

KEVIN BLECHDOM - Club 3VOOR12 concert 10/12/2003 (32 min)
It's Valentine's Day and Kevin Blechdom's concert features a song about her exes, with interesting details of how wet her pussy could get. And that was only 5 minutes into the concert (if you don't like the first song, fast forward the first five minutes - you'll thank us later, well you might). This concert features also "Binaca" (played in RK43) and Kevin's special version of "I Will Always Love You" (the last song). Kevin Blechdom is one woman, one banjo and one laptop. Highly entertaining, occasionally irritating and allegedly orgasmic. We'll see you in ten days.
