Radio Kurtodrome 14
You might notice Radio Kurtodrome is only 28 minutes long this time, but we provide you with links to extra material, so don't dare to complain. And it's not because this edition is released on February 14 that this is a Valentine special. Okay, it does feature "Fuck the pain away".
LEMON JELLY - Space Walk (radio edit)
"Okay, I'm letting go" ... "Here we go!" ... "it's tremendous" ... "beautiful!" Quotes from the song that say all about the song. I actually wanted to buy the Lemon Jelly cd today but it costs between 17 and 19. While we're going to find out whether the prize is temporarily high or not, we'll just enjoy the song for free on Radio Kurtodrome. "Beautiful! Just beautiful!" (copyright: XL Recordings)
MASHA QRELLA - All She Feels Instead
Masha Qrella is the first artist to appear on two Radio Kurtodromes in a row. Have we told you we liked her album Luck? With extended thanks to MTV Germany for putting these gems on their site.
THE FOLK IMPLOSION - Brand of Skin (D)
Good news! Lou Barlow has released another album, this time with The Folk Implosion (helpfully titled The New Folk Implosion). Here is "Brand of Skin", an MP3 generously donated by their label IMusic. If you'd like to hear another new Folk Implosion track, then all you need to do is go to this url and get ready to download "Releast".
MY MORNING JACKET - Can you see the hard helmet on my head? (D)
Straight from the band's site comes this MP3, a song from their Chocolate and Ice EP. Like all the other songs on the album written and performed by Jim James.
BETH GIBBONS AND RUSTIN MAN - Tom The Model
Please wait till you've listened to all of the songs in this edition, but do remember that on the excellent Cathy and Ryan website you can listen to all the songs of Out of Season, the collaboration between Beth Gibbons (of Portishead fame) and Rustin Man (a.k.a. Paul Webb, who you should remember from Talk Talk). "Mysteries" can still be enjoyed on our Democratische 99 of 2002.
THE SEA AND CAKE - Hotel Tell (D)
The official Sea and Cake site boasts that "in current news, Thrill Jockey will be releasing our sixth studio recording, One Bedroom, on January 21st, 2003." And indeed, the new album has been released and we (okay, insound) selected the 6th track for this edition of Radio Kurtodrome.
PEACHES - Fuck The Pain Away
For those of you that aren't too fond of Valentine's Day for whatever reason or for those of you who want to celebrate this day by fucking each other's brains out: "Sucking on my titties like you wanted me". "Stay in school", Peaches advises and she's one to talk: did you know Peaches is an ex-teacher? Did you want to know? (copyright: XL Recordings)
