Radio Kurtodrome 9: dedicated to Mary Hansen
Mary Hansen (of Stereolab) has been killed in a traffic accident. That is why the ninth edition of Radio Kurtodrome is dedicated to her and will feature songs by Stereolab and Brokeback.

STEREOLAB - Lo Boob Oscillator (D)
What the future of Stereolab is, is unsure now. All we know is that Mary Hansen's sudden death was a shock. (Copyright: Reinventingtheworld - and the titles apparently since they called it "La Bouche Oreille")

BROKEBACK - Names Winston (D)
Mary Hansen was more than a member of Stereolab. She worked on records by Mouse on Mars (in fact, that's how I got to know MoM), The High Llamas, Moonshake and Brokeback. A new Brokeback album is set for release in January 2003 and will be called "Look at the Bird". The song you're hearing on Radio Kurtodrome is a generous offering from that new album by Brokeback's label Thrill Jockey.

LEMON JELLY - Return to Patagonia
"Where are we?" You're on my computer, but where will I be after eight minutes? Lemon Jelly make dance music for the brain not for the body. The latest album of these Brits is called "Lost Horizons" and out on XL Recordings (which is where we found this track).

SEAFOOD - In This Light Will You Fight Me?
Who are Seafood? David, Kev, Kevin and Caroline are a UK band I'd never heard of, but I found them through the Girls Against Boys site (Eli produced their last album and is producing their next.) To tell you the truth, I wasn't always impressed with what I was hearing on their site. Until I heard this song. I surrender.

AMERICRUISER - Best Funk Records (D)
So Americruiser makes the best funk records, eh. But who is Americruiser? It's the pseudonym of GvsB's Eli and the GvsB site promises us there's new material on the way. Another song over 7 minutes, which makes this the Radio Kurtodrome with the fewest songs. But it's the quality and not the quantity that counts. See you in approximately 10 days!
