Radio Kurtodrome 75
With a lot of the Democratische 99 songs online we thought it was high time for us to focus on new music. A lot of streams this time, but isn't it the music that counts rather than the ability to download? Enjoy this first edition of 2005 (and a belated Happy New Year).

ANI DiFRANCO - Manhole
We thank the VPRO for this stream. It'll show you Ani DiFranco is still prolific and that she can still be poignant.

CAMERA OBSCURA - I Love My Jean
Three new, excellent songs by the Glaswegians, honouring this time the work of poet Robert Burns (1759-1796), considered to be Scotlands national poet. Tracyanne Campbell has put to music with her musical flair two of Burns poems ("I love my Jean" and "A red, red rose"). The single is also a posthumous tribute to BBC DJ John Peel, who helped and befriended the band since their first single. The single will be released on February 21.

MILIE SIMON - Flowers (remix) (D)
A name to remember: milie Simon is French. Though the French have known her since 2003, to the rest of us she was completely unknown till now (and to most of you, she still is). Her untitled album is distributed by Barclay and one of her two singles is "Flowers", here in a Markus Dravs remix for your download fun only.

SPINVIS - Idee Zeventien
Yes, funny man, that Spinvis. For years we've been telling you he's amongst the best lyricists in the Dutch music industry and what's this? A brand new but almost completely instrumental track (there's one sample of a news report). Well done, Spinvis! His new album should be released later this year. (The stream was brought to you by the VPRO.)

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - Daft Punk Is Playing At My House (remix)
Even though we're still in January I think there won't be another album so many people have been longing for to be released. By the way, the DFA Compilation 2 deserves a listen too. DFA aren't too big on releasing audio material, but this is apparently a Soulwax remix of the opening track of LCD Soundsytem's eponymous debut.

STEREO TOTAL - I Am Naked (D)
From one eternal hipcat to another. Stereo Total, the monarchy of Eurotrash, will release a new album pretty soon. Do The Bambi should be released by now in the US (on Kill Rock Stars) and will see its European release one month later. There's a difference though: the European release will have less songs in English. Doing the Bambi seems a bit difficult to follow.

PSAPP - Glue Song (D)
Psapp is the sound of a bag of icecubes slammed against a piece of cardboard, or so we've been told. It's also the name used by Galia Durant and Carim Clasmann. "Glue Song" should serve as an introduction to the duo.

MAXIMILIAN HECKER - The Days Are Long And Filled With Pain (D)
Kitty Yo favourite Maximilian Hecker has released a new version of his song "The Days Are Long And Filled With Pain". This time it's Niina Susanna Rinne who provides the vocals. And it's with this goosebumps-providing track we'll leave you for ten days. A la prochaine!
