30 minutes. Three streams. Three downloads.
KRAFTWERK -
Tour De France (stream)
Kraftwerk are back with Minimum Maximum, a double live cd with songs recorded during their 2004 tour. Coincidently, the Tour de France is also back. So we thought it might be a good idea to combine both comebacks. "Tour de France" was recorded in Paris. This stream is offered by Astralwerks, Kraftwerk
's label in the US.
ROYKSOPP -
What Else Is There (stream)
Also out on (and offered by) Astralwerks: the new Royksopp, called The New Understanding. Royksopp have been highly secretive about this album (the official streaming in Holland lasted only ONE day and we missed it). Reviews have been lukewarm. We haven't had time to listen to the full album, but here's a song we do like. The current single is "Only this moment".
GRANDADDY -
Glassy Dusty (Wordless) (D)
Tiny Telephone is a San Francisco based recording studio collective and mp3 site run by Barsuk Records recording artist John Vanderslice. The recording studio has long been a staple of the San Francisco music scene, recording everyone from high profile major label acts to local bands' first demos. In 2002 Tiny Telephone released Tape OP, a compilation cd with a.o. Man or Astroman?, The Apples in Stereo, Elliott Smith and of course this Grandaddy track.
SUFJAN STEVENS - Come On (Feel the Illonoise)
Sufjan Stevens's ambitious plan to make a record about every American state has now brought him to Illinois. We had an extensive listen to the album and think it's Sufjan's best record so far. (This stream was offered by the VPRO.)
SOUTH SAN GABRIEL - I Am Six Pounds of Dynamite (D)
Last time we promised you more of South San Gabriel and look who are keeping their promise. Listen to track 5 from the album The Carlton Chronicles: Not Until The Operation is Through.
THE DELGADOS - Parcel of Rogues (D)
Turns out Camera Obscura aren't the only ones interested in putting Robert Burns's poems to music: in 2003 The Delgados recorded this track for John Peel's Burn's Day Show. The label Chemikal offered this track and it's the track we'll be leaving you with for approximately 10 days. Au revoir!
