Radio Kurtodrome 16
We were wondering if we didn't have to put some sort of peaceful message on the site, but we thought that by now you would've gotten the point (which is "war is never the best option") and that the people in power have better things to do than download legal MP3's. So let's just stick to the music and you know what? Not a bad thing to stick to... 30 minutes (and 7 seconds) of the best in new and older music. And this time all the songs are ready to get downloaded to your computer. Quality is always the best option.
THE WISDOM OF HARRY - I'm gonna make my life right (D)
I was recently listening to a tape and heard the most amazing track I'd completely forgotten. The track was "Boxed" and can be found on The House of Binary, the 2000 release by The Wisdom of Harry. Pete Astor a.k.a. The Wisdom of Harry might be known for being a member of The Weather Prophets. "Boxed" was nowhere to be found, but the track we selected from that same album is also quite good.
BAXTER DURY - Fungus Hedge (D)
Two weeks ago someone asked us if we'd heard of Baxter Dury. Let's have a look at the artists in the fifth edition of Radio Kurtodrome... Meastro Echoplex (now working under the name of John Guilt), Baxter Dury... Yes, we had heard of the man. His fantastic album Len's Parrot Memorial Lift has finally been released in the US and Canada. Reason enough for Radio Kurtodrome to select another track from that remarkable debut.
CONTRIVA - Shadow (D)
As you might've noticed, last edition failed to promote Masha Qrella, but don't despair: she's back. We have ordered Luck and it will arrive in "four to six weeks". That's enough time for Masha to release another album... see, it's already here. Masha plays keyboards in Contriva and they have a new album out (If you'd stayed, out on Monika Enterprise). Here's an edited version of one of the songs.
THE JIM YOSHII PILE-UP - Haunted Rooms (D)
Homemade drugs is the title of the Jim Yoshii Pile-Up's latest album. Their biography is simply adorable: "The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up are a five piece musical group. They live and record and play shows on the west coast of the United States and hope to one day play for you, wherever you may be. They think of you often and sometimes write love letters to you that they are too shy to send..." See you in Antwerp then.
QUICKSPACE - They Shoot Horses Don't They (D)
Quickspace released Death of Quickspace on the Matador label in 2000. Three years later Radio Kurtodrome finally remembers to plug a song. Thanks for waiting, guys. (And thanks to Insound for putting it on the net.)
THROWING MUSES - Portia (D)
Throwing Muses are back! And to celebrate that we end this edition of Radio Kurtodrome with a track from their brand new album (which we found on the band's label site Beggars).
