Radio Kurtodrome 89
Anything happened while we were gone? We're back and we brought you lots of music. All these tracks are downloadable, so enjoy these wonderful pearls.

THE FIERY FURNACES - Seven Silver Curses (D)
The Fiery Furnaces' fourth US release, Rehearsing My Choir is based, with liberal heaps of poetic license, around the recollections of Matt and Eleanor Friedberger's grandmother, 83-year-old Olga Sarantos. As Eleanor and Mrs. Sarantos trade off on vocals, signaling quick shifts in time and perspective, the music barrels along at their heels, the Furnaces changing up instruments and arrangements to match the action. A lovely oddity to begin this Radio Kurtodrome. If you like your music straight, please skip this track and go to the wonderful American Analog Set.

AMERICAN ANALOG SET - Immaculate Heart (D)
American Analog Set are back with a new full length, Set Free. You can find this track on that album, but if you think it sounds familiar, you probably will be the proud owner of the band's split ep Songs of Hurt and Healing.

TV ON THE RADIO - Dry Drunk Emperor (D)
You may have heard of American artists who've protested against the handling of the hurricane Katrina disasters. TV on the Radio are amongst them: they're recorded a new song and posted it online, along with a message which we'll copy here: "we ( tvotr ) were back in the studio thinking and feeling again and made this song for all our everybody... in the absence of a true leader we must not forget that we are still together.... hearts are sick ... minds must change ... it is our hope that this song inspires, comforts, fosters courage, and reminds us... this darkness cannot last if we work together. let us help each other... heal each other .... look after one another ... the human heart is our new capitol.... this song is for you.... us.....we....them... it is free. pass it on. TO THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE KATRINA : NEW YORK CITY'S HEART IS WITH YOU... STAY STRONG ! WE LOVE YOU . -tvotr" You can find the lyrics on the Touch & Go site.

THE WALKABOUTS - Fuck Your Fear (D)
Thanks to Glitterhouse we're once again able to give you a Walkabouts download. Turns out the rumours that Chris & Carla were no longer The Walkabouts were a bit false. That's "a bit" as in "not only are they back, but Acetylene rocks more than ever".

HELLDORADO - Just Like Fire (D)
Speaking of Glitterhouse, this European label (and home of David Eugene Edwards's output) has found the Norwegian answer to 16 Horsepower's split. Listen to "Just like fire" and try not to think of Edwards. Helldorado have an album out with the title The Ballad of Nora Lee on which they prove they also love Nick Cave, Ennio Morricone, the Cramps and many more.

HEAVY TRASH - Justine Alright (D)
Question: "Blues Explosion + Speedball Baby = ?" The answer: Heavy Trash, the collaboration between Jon Spencer and Matt Verta-Ray. This download is offered to you by CNet Download.com.

TOKYO SEX DESTRUCTION - Song To Apologize (D)
By way of an apology for our lack of updates, here are Tokyo Sex Destruction. They manage to combine the sixties with punk. The band is from Spain and their new album is called 5th Avenue South. We should post our next edition in approximately 10 days. If not, play this track again.
