TERSE VERSE

BY AUSSIE JOHN

Aussie John has decided that it is time for his long rest. At around 8:30pm on Tuesday 31 May 2005 (Oz time) John took his final breath. His family were with him all day and are content that John was in no pain and it was the right time for him to go. We thank AJ's many friends for their emails, prayers, and well wishes and know that he would want to make you all laugh, as a tribute to his quick wit and in celebration of his life.

A family member sent this poem to me last night, and I cannot give credit to the author as I don't know who wrote the words, but I think it is just right.......

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Thankyou all
Paulette

MARCH TERSE VERSE

"Kooka burra"
A prayer for burying kookaburras
every aussie knows
"In the name of the Father and of the Son
and in the hole he goes."

"Innocence "
Which of your 5 senses lessen now as you get older?"
A woman asked of Sigmund Freud
and this is what he told her.
"That's a good question- let me see-
I'd say that it would have to be
my sense of common decency".

"Ditto"
When I came to chat I saw,
a person I'd not seen before
"DITTO " seemed to be his name
and he turned up in every frame

His comments seemed to be abrupt
and all he did was interrupt.
I think it's cause for celebration
that we've now lost this aberration.

"Bare Facts"
The Insurance man worked out a plan
after he discovered
no one in poor Adam's family
ever had been covered.

"My word"
A Yellow Polka-dot Bikini
would not have covered my "Zuchini".
This sentence really sounds absurd
but means I've used another word.
It's one I haven’t used before
and so I'll add it to my score.

" Progress?"
When I was growing up
after 12 we were "teen agers"
but now as young as 5
we're regarded as "Screen agers".

"Hi & Bye"
I often come to chat for fun
and find that I'm the only one
Which I don't consider great
and wonder whether I should wait.

Some one would come, I'd say "How do"
then find that they were passing through.
It was obvious to see
they'd not been looking there for me
so now I wait to hear their HI's
that way I don't waste my good byes.

"Great feats"
My Doctor's health plan that's for me
now has a government decree
Five visits in a year are free
and cover my podiatry.

I had the first trip yesterday
and it's agreed that I should pay
but what I think is really fair
I get it back on Medicare.

And now my nephew's being great
He's offered me a discount rate,
computer problems I have found
I just call and he comes round

A.J's a happy vegemite
and everything is looking bright.

"Cryptic crossword"
We visited the Emerald Isle and listened to their brogue
It was very picturesque and cameras were in vogue.
they told us of a local who'd gained great renown
inventing crossword puzzles for the folk in town.

We went to the cemetery to get a camera shot
and there we asked the sexton
where would we find his plot.
He said "That is easy, you never will get lost
If you go 6 down and then go 5 across.

"Hot shot"
My sugar fell extremely low,
my carer thought that she should go
and ask my doctor what to do
if a coma hove in view.
He said "No need to have hysteria,
just inject his big posterior".

I said "Now that would make me frown
and might affect my sitting down".
So we've agreed there'll be less harm
if she injects me in the arm.

"Bearing up"
My carer now has got the flu
I'm hoping that she will pull through
Otherwise what will I do
Like "Winnie" I'll be in the" Pooh"
