POETRY BY AUSSIE JOHN

****The Festive Season****

Christmas time has come and gone

But the malady lingers on,

Too much egg-nog really tells

And I still hear "The Bells!" "The Bells!".

May the Season never end

But pass the Alka Seltzer friend.

Christmas comes and presents too

I hope that yours was good for you.

I know I ate too much again and

Sugar levels were a pain,

But it was worth it all to see

My ever loving Family.

I found presents on the tree

A CD Burner there for me,

"Windows for Dummies" there you are,

And a Gazebo for my car.

An auto radio was really hot,

And so I think I'll keep the lot.

There's noises on the roof tonight

And in the lounge a wondrous sight

As gathered round the Christmas tree

Are friends and all the family

So may I say before I'm done

"God Bless Us Each and Everyone"

From your mate Aussie John, 2002.

Santa's gone - Oh what a fuss!

The kids are saying "Toys-R-Us"

New year awaits us as of yore

I wonder what it has in store?

At my age (I would like to say)

I'm thankful for another day

And the chance to see it through

As long as it's with friends like you.

I'm in the attic way up high

Where I can see the world go by

But when we're busy - I've got proof

I sometimes end up on the roof.

A new year lies ahead once more

Let's hope it's better than before.

That there will be an end to strife

And we can live a peaceful life.

So may each day bring harmony

Into the life of you and me.

A New Year's wish to you and yours

I hope the kids saw Santa Claus.

As everybody celebrates

"Please God look after all my mates".

The New Years when I'll make my mark

You'll see "G'Day", and "I'll be Bach".

Now the Christmas season's passed

And we can settle down at last.

Get on the scales and hear them say

"One at a time please", for today.

Undo the belt one notch at least

Because of all that Christmas feast.

Pack up the tinsel, stash the tree

It's exercise for you and me.

It's my final time to chat

So Merry Christmas and all that.

Don't over do it but have fun

With peace and joy to every one.

And may the New Year just hold wonder

From Aussie John and all "Down Under"

Yule have to pardon me I fear

"Cos Aussie John is out er here.

A Happy New year one and all.

This year has really been a ball

New year awaits to make its mark

But you all know that "I'll be Bach".

Wreck the halls of boughs and holly

Santa's left, no longer jolly.

Grand Kids all gone home at last

So I can dream of Christmas past.

Just twelve months left and then I know

It's time again for Ho! Ho! Ho!.

New Year faces us once more

So on the old year close the door

Good times to come for you and me

So let's take down the Christmas tree

And make a vow twelve months will bring

The very best of everything.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Now's the time for Christmas past

New Year's eve is coming fast

Blow the whistle ring the bell

Let's see the old year out as well

A new day waits for you and me

So let's break out the bubbly.

My Christmas present trousers were too small

And I could not get into them at all.

Maybe exercise will solve the lack

"Who am I kidding, I'll just take them back."

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Seasons come and seasons go

Like "Ole Man River" I just flow,

I float on high o'er vale and hill

Some people think that I'm a dill.

Being on the Chat's a ball

You get to speak with one and all

I'll type a page but ere I score

I've got that rotten Boot once more.

By Aussie John, 2002.
