POEMS BY AUSSIEJOHN

a poem at valentines

Love is mighty, Love is grand

even second time around.

There's a couple here on chat

I know would like to second that.

In front of all they cannot hide

emotions that are felt inside.

It's time for valentines I know,

so dedicate this poem

to wish them both

the best of luck no matter

where they roam.

The females are delighted

as are all the men.

The ladies carry on like it was

happening to them.

Now I've been sworn to silence

so no names appear this time

But you dont need an aeroplane

if your both on "Cloud 9".

Love is a 4 letter word as no one can deny.

It sometimes brings you ecstasy,

It sometimes makes you cry.

There's many different forms of it,

like love that's held for pets,

which often can be tested

when the bill comes from the Vets.

"Agapi" is a general type thats

held for everyone.

Then there's the strong maternal love

twixt mother & her son.

There's teenage love that seniors

say is nothing but a crush.

and "instant love upon first sight"

that hits you with a rush.

The sentimental type

between a husband and his wife,

and love for all the grand kids

even when they're causing strife.

The type between 2 newly weds

that proves that "love is blind".

But "Love still makes the world go round"

who cares how it's defined.

St' Valentine is known

as the lovers patron saint,

and there's a custom

that occurs each year.

The fourteenth of the second month

is always put aside.

So friends and lovers can become sincere.

With Cupid's dart, a big red heart

and sentimental verse,

exchanged in love with feelings

that are fine.

You shyly say upon this day

(and hope the answers "Yes")

The question

"Will you be my Valentine?"

Love is an emotion that

messes with your head,

and "love of money is

the root of evil" its been said.

"Love" involves commitment and

perhaps that's why today.

When used in conversation it

makes fellers shy away.

Councelors all say that love's

essential in our life. and then claim

reimbursement for advice

to man & wife.

"Making love" a euphemism

meaning procreation, and lack of

this can lead us to a zero population

The hippies had the right

idea in 1954. Their favorite expression?

"Hey man, make Love not war."

The origins of Valentine

are shrouded in the mists of time.

Suffice to say the customs there

and seems accepted everywhere.

Traditionally you play a game,

You send a card without your name.

Recipients are really stoked,

because their ego has been stroked.

Red hearts abound and you can share,

a tiny cupid here & there.

"Send me a card" I'd like to say,

'cos it would really "make my day".

If "Love is all",

what's left to say,

So that's my message

for today.

I opened up the hotmail line

and found a card from Valentine.

I can't respond 'cos theres no name

looks like delete will strike again.

Fourteenth of Feb. begins these frolics,

with tempting gifts for

choco-holics.

Diabetics dont need proof

with sugar levels through the roof.

Remember girls what I have said,

As chocolate rears it's ugly head.

Receiving cards is really great,

and I'd suggest don't hesitate,

to tie them with a big pink bow,

you sentimental so & so.

And in a big box keep this treasure

so you can read them at your leisure.

"Love" is an emotion and women seem to know,

that it can be the greatest thing in life.

And marriage constitutes a union

consecrated to the total love

between a man & wife.

"True love" will never weary

although our bodies do.

For in our memories "True love"

will always see us through.

Regardless of experience I think

we realize.

The universal constant is that

"True love never dies."

Valentine's a festival that

comes but once a year,

and celebrates the love between the sexes.

Exchanging flighty cards & gifts

that helps perpetuate, the theme

behind this vital type of nexus.

With cupid and his bow, red hearts

and ribbons (usually pink).

It's hoped recipients will change

the way in which they think.

For tongue in cheek's the manner

in which this thing is done.

And many folk regard it as

a harmless bit of fun.

Love is "wonderful & bright"

the star-crossed lovers said.

but Romeo and Juliette

had never shared a bed.

"But soft what light

thru yonder window shines?"

I think it's true

that this young love sick lad

just really didn't have a clue.

The convoluted goings on

the constant families strife.

made me conclude that I'd be rude

and yell "Go get a life".

I hesitate to recommend this play,

to others who espouse "True love"

'cos I think they'll find

better things to do.

What can i say about Valentine's day

that I haven't mentioned before?

The principals fine, if you just drop a line

to someone you think has allure

A personal name is not used in this game,

so when you create please feel free.

Just give it your best, get love off your chest.

As long as you don't involve me.
