"Aj's Day"

My alarm went off and so I'd say
that means I have another day.
I wonder what will come my way
I hope the gout has gone away,
my breathing seems to be ok.
I have arthritis in one thumb
and the bursa on my elbow's numb.

I swing both feet onto the floor
to see if I can walk once more.
I acknowledge that I'm pleased
there's no arthritis in my knees
for on some days they tend to swell
and I admit they hurt like hell.

Next come my pills , the ones I've found
tend to keep me hanging round,
"Without them", my old Doctor said
"You would probably be dead".

I have at least one saving grace
and that's the smile upon my face
and whatever comes along
I'll try to meet it with a song.

I prick my finger so I'll know
if my blood sugar's running low
then work out the ratio
of insulin that I will need
after I have had a feed.

Now it's shower time for me
it seems like an eternity
I'm not as agile I suppose
and the soap gets up my nose

With my ablutions over then
I go on the net and then
I enter into Senior Chat
where I can talk of this and that
and you'll find I'm not averse
to slipping in a few terse verse.

When I feel tired I quit the chat
It’s time now for my power nap
until I know how good it feels
when I receive my Meals on Wheels.

After I have done my chores
some days it's time to hit the stores
where I tend to play my game
with my "blue Streak walking frame
pedestrians are not too pally
when I add them to my tally.

When I get home I'm always flat
so it's time for another nap
until at 6 pm I see it's now time to have my tea.
from 7 till midnight's T.V.

I finish off the day like that
with a final bout of chat.
I say "good night
God bless" and then
I go back to bed again.
