Letter 6 -- Group Work To Our Dear Blessing Spirits: Let Us speak now of group work. Group work is basically designed to bring together in communion the Light Bearers of the world. It is where they regroup from the hectic days of work, the hustle and bustle of everyday living with its energy draining aspects. People in groups get together to breathe a heavy sigh of relief for now they can relax and breathe each other in. There may be some material read in preparation for meditation–and then as meditation begins each is encouraged to forget the outside world and center on Him; center on the Spirit within; center on the Universe and its Laws. “Be Still and Know that I Am God.” Then afterward the people gather to read, study, and discuss some spiritual aspect of the Teachings. The aura of the group begins to clear and those who can see notice that a cleansing process has been happening to each and everyone as they lay at the feet of the Lord their cares, their pains, and their weariness. This is as it should be, but unfortunately all groups are not like this as We’ve described. Take for instance the groups where egos and self-inflated pride takes precedence over loving, giving, sharing, and putting others first. Why does this happen? There are many reasons too numerous to account for here, but it usually happens when people of unlike natures come together and the weak ones allow the strong to dominate. Strong “I-me” people generally have sincere problems of self-worth and have found a niche where they can exert some self-importance. And the weaker ones play the humility game of “I’m better than you; just notice my humbleness.” And around and around the cycle goes. However the strong ones are usually the people who take the initiative and get things done; but it seems sometimes their way is the only way. And the humble ones decide they aren’t strong enough to assert themselves, when actually they may have very good ideas, but they never arouse the energy sufficient to be heard. All of this goes on to some degree in all Lodges, Study Centers, etc. None of it is sufficient to leave or breakup the meetings, for don’t you know that growth comes from tension! Our friends, remember all things are possible with prayer. Do this: be honest enough with each other, sit, hold hands together in a circle*, and pray for guidance, honesty, and understanding of each other. There will be several of you that will make this prayer aloud in the circle; this will be done as you are so moved by your inner Spirit. Often all of you will pray a prayer for the group. Then talk to one another as you never have before. As you tell others how you feel they have failed the group, be honest and reveal how you’ve not done your part either. Remember to keep holding hands, because the tension will mount and you’ll want to pull away; don’t–it’s important. And need We remind you that attitude is of supreme importance. If you do not feel the group or the meetings are really worth it, please leave, because your lack of desire and ineffectiveness will be felt by the group (the United Hands of Light that is formed by the circle). There you will act as a broken portion of an electric cord. Take heed for what We say unto you is Truth, and Truth is moving. When the circle of open and honest discussion is completed, and everyone is to be asked if he has said all he wishes to convey, stand up and walk up to each other and embrace–not just the few you feel closest to, but everyone, for occultly this must be done for Love to truly move amongst you. Then have a celebration of Love, food and spiritual music. We ask that you keep five candles burning in the form of the five-pointed star throughout the entire meeting. This process is one that is to be kept within your meeting as one that is used when a sufficient number of people feel the need for it. You will find that if it is done in Love, the need to do it will be less often because the cohesiveness of the group will be strengthened with each time. This shall be called the “United Hands of Light Service.” This is a term We will use whenever We describe a process that involves people working together in His Service. Is it necessary that We tell you We’ll be with you during this Service? We’ll be with you in Heart and Love. Know this. Our Plan is your Plan. We will help each other to implement it. For did you know that We need you as much as you need Us? Does this come as a surprise to you? It shouldn’t. For as far back as history travels, it is known that the Plan of God cannot be worked out except through those who are willing to sacrifice their time, their lives, and all that they may own in order that the Plan may be carried out. All of that is asked of few, but the Heart that is willing to lose its life in order that others may see is the Heart for which We so search.
