Letter 38 -- Will of God Friday, September 16, 1977 (St. Johnsbury, Vermont)–11:00 p.m. Dear Friends, and Blessings to you all, What is the Will of God? Of what does It consist? First of all–God is a term that is meaningless to Us, however We know what energy it holds for the reader and that energy of meaning does not stray too terribly far from the Truth of the identity of this Higher Power. On this point you must be careful to watch any tendencies towards intellectual snobbery as you hear others speak of God. For isn’t it sufficient that they carry in their Hearts this idea of a Higher Being Who watches over them, loves and cares for those who have faith in Him? Can you search your Hearts and come up with a belief as simple and as beautiful as that? Be wary and step carefully Our Friends as you walk up the steps of higher learning–for as you do–the tendency to turn around and look down on those behind you is very tempting. Oh how surprised some of you will be when you discover that those very ones whom you thought were below are actually a staircase ahead !! Do be cautious. It is the above that must be made clear as We move further into the discussion on the Will of God. There is a Mind; a Mind so advanced that It envelops this entire stellar system. It knows what energies and forces are at work at all times and It never sleeps. We can give the pronoun “He” to this Mind, if you wish, for that again fits comfortably into the God image. However you must keep this in your own mind; such a Power transcends sexual nature. Another danger that exists for you is that the more you study–the more you are inclined to think you understand God. Need We tell you that even We do not understand Him fully–if We did, We would be Him: For it is a law that you understand nothing fully until you become it. Humility is acceptance of the simple fact that those things higher than you are never within your range of total comprehension. Know that and you are on your first step towards the Will of God. Move in closer now and listen carefully. The Will of God is as definite and yet as indefinite as the wind over the sea. It moves this way and that on Its course, knowing always Its goal. And that goal is beyond your understanding for your vision is narrow. Accept this fact and know that it is in humility one may discover His Will working in the individual life. For when you think you know more than you actually do–you cannot tune in to the Higher Will. Are you beginning to understand of what We are speaking here? If not, take time to be clear in it. When you have the attitude that you “know”, you are in that moment blocking yourself from the discovery of that Will. With each step in learning, there must be an equal step in the realization of your Oneness with all creation. Humility is then becoming an attribute of your very soul. The
quality the disciple has developed the most when he reaches adeptship is–humility.
For Love is at its fullest when it is humble. And in that state, the man
in his entirety is a fully realized spiritual being who at last has
discovered the ONE TRUTH–He is in brotherhood–He is in at-one-ment
with all of creation. For it is his intuitive powers that link him
closely with the Will of God, and to have perfected his intuition, He
must be humble. For the desire of your mind to be superior casts you out
of your intuitional nature, and your link with all others. You may study
and learn much, but there must always be at your Center the
understanding that His Will holds no answers or explanation for you–nor
may It ever be found in any book. His Will is written on an unformulated
tablet, and can only be read now and then by few. |
