Letter 25 -- Karma Friday, January 21, 1977–1:17 p.m. To Our Dear Blessing Spirits, Let Us speak of karma. Karma is that which calls forth an incarnation as the soul seeks to express that which has been a detriment to its ultimate freedom. As it is of the nature of pain, it also carries the seed of joy for when this pattern has reached its end–(its true destination)–the soul and the entire being lift from the mire that has held it captive. We cannot state too clearly the importance of how well the disciple meets this task. For karma not only brings with it the repeated opportunities but also renews within the aspirant the memory of the way in which he failed. Let Us explain: The disciple must be diligently watchful as he is met with old ways of the past that are once again reaching for recognition. This watchfulness must remain entrenched within the mind and Heart because the desire and first response will be to repeat the “crime” once again in the very same way. This, We say, is the downfall of many and to be a true disciple one must be willing to lay all responses at the feet of the Master. As the old way of handling karma over the lifetimes of an individual becomes stronger, it produces a problem in energy. As you know energy is neither bad nor good, but is used by the individual in such a way which then gives it its value. And if a response to a particular karma is the same over and over again–lifetime after lifetime–that energy strengthens as ages come and go. And thus it becomes increasingly difficult for the disciple to give more positive direction to his response. Now, as We make ourselves more clear, We ask you to intuit what this means for you personally. For how many times have you given the same response to a situation that has a recurrence in your life; and then it continues to be repeated as the years go by? Know that it is a law that karma not only carries over from life to life but it also repeats its pattern several, sometimes many times in one incarnation. This is because the soul has decided to allow these lessons to continue as purely opportunities for the individual to grow and move out of his prison. Does this sound cruel? Not really when you consider it is all designed to create a change within the disciple’s way of responding and relating to his or her own personal karma. For if it can be faced and met with properly, it is then done and need not be repeated. This is the Love of God. In closing We wish to give you a prayer that if said regularly and with deep sincerity, the Heart will attune itself to the “change of response” process which is of prime importance in the life of the disciple. The Response to Karma Prayer “O
listen my Heart to that which has brought pain and devastation to me in
the past. Be steadfast and watchful as we go through life with an open
eye to its return. Let me not move so quickly in my response for fear I
may misjudge once more–and henceforth draw it to me more strongly than
before. Teach me to look into the eyes of my Master and ask, “What
wouldst thou have me do?” For my strength is low at times such as
these and my eyes are clouded with emotions. Let not anger, fear and
hurt keep me from His answer for it holds the promise of Life and the
future liberation of my soul.” |
