The Letters, 60 in number, were
received over the period from November 26, 1975 to May 2, 1979. The
Letters came after an intense period of spiritual reflection during
which she experienced many months of pain associated with opening of
her spiritual centers especially the "third eye."
She spoke of her vision changing and becoming "lightly
clairvoyant" with what she felt to be auras becoming slightly
visible to her but with little clarity. Her clairaudience, however, rapidly developed and her
spiritual work with the Letters added depth and increasing clarity to
this aspect of her psychic nature.
The Letters came to Sharon in a
context. She was very much
involved in the Theosophical community and was president of her local
study group. Though the Letters focused at times on this community, it
was made very clear to her that the contents of the Letters were not
exclusive to this group. Indeed, the Luxor Letters were so named
because their original source was the Brotherhood of Luxor, a
community of spiritual masters who, according to H.P. Blavatsky's Isis
Unveiled, has responsibility for the scientific direction of Western
Civilization: What will, perhaps,
still more astonish American readers is the fact that in the United
States, a mystical fraternity now exists, which claims an intimate
relationship with one of the oldest and most powerful of Eastern
Brotherhoods. It is known as the Brotherhood of Luxor, and its faithful
members have the custody of very important secrets of science. Its
ramifications extend widely throughout the great republic of the West.
Though this brotherhood has been long and hard at work, the secret of
its existence has been jealously guarded. The Brotherhood of Luxor played a significant role in the
founding of the Theosophical Society in 1875.
As the contents of the Letters
became known to friends and associates, an extensive mailing list
developed of those who wanted to receive the "latest
Letter". As the letters were coming, groups of five were
accumulated, processed for mailing and sent out. During this time it was
not known when the next Letter would come nor how many eventually there
would be. As each letter came they were entitled separately as
"Letter -- " and dated. The mailing list grew as she responded
to requests by various spiritual groups across the country. She
began to give "talks" or lectures on the Letters.
About
a year after the last Letter was received, Sharon was told by the
source that she needed to make her "final arrangements."
She understood this to mean that by some unknown process or event, she
was going to pass away. She was by profession a psychotherapist and had
intensely studied her dreams for years. Her dreams had also reflected a
theme of "moving on" and thus she was "at peace"
with this possibility as she felt it was her fate/karma. Her dreams
continued to reflect themes of her passing for the next year and a half
until at one point she became ill from what appeared to be the flu.
However, this flu continued until she required hospitalization. After a
diagnosis of mononucleosis was mistakenly made she was re-diagnosed as
having leukemia in December of 1981. She passed away in July of 1982 at
the age of 49.
It was always her wish that the
Letters be made available to any who wished to receive them. The broad
acceptance and availability of the Internet now allows a wider exposure
of this important spiritual guidance and to a greater extent fulfills
her wish regarding the Letters.
