Letter 41 -- Will of God Thursday, December 8, 1977–9:50 a.m. Our Dear Friends of the Spirit, Are you now more able to understand of what we are speaking in the two previous Letters? You have been discovering that the basic message of our Love Letters to you is one of simplicity. Only in being simple may you swim freely in the current that moves through the sea of the Will of Him Who so loves you. Our messages are surfacely simple but if read over and over again–you will discover emerging the deepest Wisdom that dwells in the higher World. Some are profoundly impressed by complicated writings; complexity may impress you, however it is not the best guide. Do not clutter your life and the secret recesses of your Heart with, “I want”, “I expect, “I must have”, or “This has got to work”, and all the other ills of mankind. For these cannot withstand the test of time nor do they belong in the Heart of the disciple. For they are a barrier from the Will that seeks a Life in and through you. Imagine this: You desire a way of life that is more fulfilling and meaningful for you, a life that is creative, challenging and productive. In your prayers and meditations you send for this call beseeching to be heard. Your inner Self responds with an excitement that quickens. Your Heart thrills as it hears its master reaching for a life that will offer it expansion. We hear. However in the corner of your mind, you have an expectation of what this new life will entail, how it will come to you and maybe you already are secretly making plans surrounding it. This type of attitude is analogous to wanting fresh air in your home, and opening one window because you are convinced the breeze is blowing only in that direction. Our friends this is not seeking the Divine Will in your life. For you are really saying to God: “Lord, I have plans for a new home, will You send me the necessary items to build it?” Understand, there is nothing wrong with asking to receive help and guidance for plans in your life that are already underway, but this is a different matter and it is not a prayer of seeking His Will. It is so important that you, as disciples and aspirants learn to differentiate between the two. For the two prayers have a definite purpose in your life, but it is dangerous when they are confused. We say dangerous in this sense: One who aspires to the Highest must use these two means of attunement with the Higher Forces alternately throughout his life. If not, then confusion develops followed by loss of spiritual energy and contact, and despair ensues. This is dangerous because magnetic forces have already been flowing through the being and once they are damned up by improper attitudes and lack of wisdom, illness may result, and humanity has lost a potential leader. All because the disciple has not learned to drop the barriers that his expectations have erected. True happiness only exists for you in His Will. When you are able to realize how many times in truth you have said, “My will, Lord, not thine,” and thought you were saying, “Your Will, not mine,” you will begin to truly open more windows so that the soul in your Heart may respond to the new and ever expanding Life of His Will. For you see, Our Friends, you don’t really trust that Higher Force when you are eagerly seeking new direction and yet you pull in the opposite by unconsciously demanding it your way. Does the word, “demanding” surprise you? Think on it, suppose a child asks you to help him with something and you know just the way to proceed. As you make the first move, he immediately lets you know it is to be done his way. Demanding is indeed a fitting word here, don’t you agree? Then he remains eternally stuck until humility enters his heart and he allows the fact that maybe someone else has far better wisdom than he. This is the story of your lives–O loved ones. Meditate and ponder on these Letters regarding His Will and discuss them deeply amongst you–sharing those moments when you have erred regarding these matters and in true self forgiveness–proceed– “O humility, the diamond of my soul, teach me to trust and eternally guide me to that Will through which I am
daily reborn and made anew.”
