RIGOR SARDONICOUS interview for Dark Recollections 'zine

Interview answered by JOSEPH

1. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: When did the apokalyptic doom unit know as RIGOR SARDONICOUS come to existance?

JOSEPH: The current incarnation has survived since 1992.

2. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Introduce band members... who does what, plays what instruments?
JOSEPH: Joseph Fogarazzo: Guitars and Vocals.
Glenn Hampton:Bass.
"?!": Drums/Percussion.

3. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Talk about your release history... what has been released and what has the response been like?

JOSEPH: We initially started pushing the band on our own but in time it proved to be more than we were able to accommodate due to many life details. In 2004 we released a long overdue album on Paragon titled 'Principia Sardonica'. The response to that release was very well received and we have been pleased.

4. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Is there a special reason why RIGOR SARDONICOUS was chosen as a band name... were other names considered?

JOSEPH: The name comes from the ailment Risus Sardonicus from the short story Sardonicus by Ray Russell. We changed the spelling for aesthetic purposes. We chose the name for its meaning - smile of the dead - which seems very fitting. No other names were considered, though both of us have played in other bands.

5. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Talk about your latest Cd "Apocalypsis Damnare"...

RIGOR SARDONICUS *Apocalypsis Damnare* now availableJOSEPH: This disc was our second self-sustained release in the past. We re-recorded it and released it with a video. On this release we also had Steve Moran, ex-Evoken, who played additional bass. It is very dark and horrific, as is our style. It is from this album that we came to be known as an Apocalyptic band from the media.

6. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Who did the art work for Cd?
JOSEPH: The drawings were done by Laura Hampton, Glenn's sister, also by Melissa Mason, who directed and edited the video on the disc. The layout graphics were done by Ryan Bohlman, drummer of Dimentianon.

7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Do you envision RIGOR SARDONICOUS using any of the following in the future... a) keyboards, b) ethnic drums, c) clean female vox, d) acoustic guitar?
JOSEPH: a) We already do to a limited extent. b) Not particularly. c) Not as of current. d) Like the keyboards, we already do to a limited extent.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is a RIGOR SARDONICOUS show like... how do people react to your music?

JOSEPH: We like to use a lot of smoke and we have had the fire department come to a few shows due to the amount of smoke that we release. One of the ideas behind Rigor is that the low end is supposed to bombard you and make your bones feel as if they are going to melt. It is from this experience that people at a show are often unable to turn away and are usually transfixed.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: If you could pick musicians to jam with (from past or present) who would you pick, and what style of music do you think would come out?

JOSEPH: "Two Time International Musician of the Year" Duane Eddy. The music would be Twangy Doom.

10. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is the song "Pandemic" about... what inspired its lyrics?

JOSEPH: That song is about the overpopulation of the earth which will ultimately destroy itself.

11. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Talk about your upcoming release "Risus ex Mortuus"

RIGOR SARDONICUS * Risus ex Mortuus* available soon from Desperation RecordsJOSEPH: 'Risus ex Mortuus' was our first self release. Endless Desperation Records from Russia will be releasing this album. We have our re-records due to lack of good distribution of our initial efforts. This version will feature an unreleased track and a cover of 'God of Thunder' by KISS.

12. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Are you or anyone in the band involved in other projekts?

JOSEPH: I'm also currently involved in Dimentianon and also other projects.

13. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: any comments, last words? thanks for the interview...

JOSEPH: Pray to me and send me money. Find us at:
