NEFARIUM: Presently, NEFARIUM consists of:
CARNIFEX at voice and guitar
ADVENTOR at lead guitar
SUMMUM ALGOR at drums
and NEGATIUM CORPORIS at bass
. The band was initially composed of only three members. After various changes of players and the quite recent addition of the bass player, today we can consider ourselves satisfied and we hope to continue to play in the same determined and effective way as we presently do. We are finding a lasting balance on common ideas which allow us to transform our thoughts and tenacity into albums like PRAESIDIUM.

3. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: How did the different band members come together to form NEFARIUM... was it hard finding the right members for the band?
NEFARIUM: Like we were saying, the changes of players were quite numerous especially for what concerns the drummer; all these changes have slowed down our work, but the differences of opinion among the players of NEFARIUM, especially on ideals, have over time helped us to select those that are today the creative members of PRAESIDIUM, who play a Fast Black Metal music without compromises. We believe indeed, at least from a certain point of view, to have already fulfilled an important and long-awaited objective .

4. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Were there any demos, Eps released prior to debut Cd.. if so how did they do in the underground metal scene?

NEFARIUM: Our first recording, "NEFARIUM DEMO '99" represented the group in its evolutionary phase, although still far from the goal reached with the initial cd; in spite of this, the Black Metal music we played in the Demo was, without doubt, aggressive and fast, at a time when Dark Funeral and Setherial were not well-known. Even if our first record was not refined and not technically outstanding, it achieved good sales and excellent critics. Some time later, we recorded "7' AVERNUS", produced by the Italian record company "MAGGOT RECORDS". In this case, we managed to produce a good album, thanks to the new drummer and to our broader experience. However, the album did not fully meet our expectations. Although few copies of this album were produced, it was well distributed and obtained good sales. Now talking about PRAESIDIUM.
5. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Talk about your debut Cd "Praesidium" Cd

NEFARIUM: PRAESIDIUM represents the fulfillment of our musical ambitions; we worked hard to produce this album and, in spite of some difficulties, today we can consider ourselves satisfied. The contribution of the new members to NEFARIUM has undoubtedly strengthened our music: even we feel that the record sounds more aggressive every time you listen to it. We can say that we substantially achieved our primary goal: the speed of our Black Metal music is surely high and the arrangements seem to be functioning, the songs come together in a univocal composition and the execution is more than satisfactory.
In any case, it is not up to us to judge PRAESIDIUM; but the feedback we received from the media until now were very positive: it's enough to look at the reviews on our website WWW.NEFARIUM.ORG ; a review of the album will come out soon on LEGACY MAGAZINE, but we would like to emphasize that our music is directed to a particular type of listeners.

6.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: How did the deal with Downfall records come about... where there any other offers from record labels to release your Cd?

NEFARIUM: We chose to sign up with Downfall Recs because the conditions they proposed to us were really good. Unfortunately, the actual time to realize the CD was very long, but we would like to thank Mikael of the label company anyway for the big support he offered us and for the work that he is undertaking with us.
We thought that a Swedish label company would be able to choose with attention and evaluate accurately which bands to produce and we felt honored to have been able to work with Downfall Records, also because our Black Metal music is typically Swedish; this has motivated us to follow this road, declining offers from local label companies which, in any case, were proposing conditions which were less appropriate for our Band.

7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is the song "Weismatten Stone" about... what inspired it?

NEFARIUM: The song "Weismatten Stone" talks about a legend which takes place on the Alps of northern Italy where we live, and it tells of the bad omen fallen on the inhabitants of a small village on the chain of the Mont Blanc. It is said that Satan himself had transformed the tears of the people in snow to the point of forming the present glacier of Weissamatten, and buried them under the weight of its pain.
The region where we live is rich with various legends concerning meetings with Satan.and we cannot feel completely uninfluenced.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is the scene like where you live... you get a lot of international bands to play live shows?

NEFARIUM: Undoubtedly, in our country, support for Extreme Metal music is very small. In spite of this, we can be proud of excellent groups like Adversam, Handfull of Hate or the beginners Natassevilla. Italian groups have a bad reputation due to an inexplicable prejudice.
We believe that, as opposed to what happens in northern Europe, in our country there is a lack of more well-done promotions from the part of label and production companies in general.
The dates of the European Tours of famous groups concern only northern Italy and the audience is inexplicably low; One reason could be attributed to the presence of the catholic religion and the big number of catholics, easily justified by the presence of the Vatican in Rome.
In any case we feel a deep, annoying false morale and a consequent fear towards what cannot be seen as "Normal" in a society like ours, in which the Church and Politics govern and manipulate an unaware population, through more and more frequent tricks and scandals that have become normal and common.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: If you could pick the perfect line up (past and present musicians) who would you pick and what would the band sound like?

NEFARIUM: Undoubtedly, our music, reminds of that of Dark Funeral or Setherial of "North" and, in fact, we believe that we were somehow influenced by the aforementioned bands, in that they accompanied each one of us until the birth of NEFARIUM. We believe that people like Frost of Satyricon, Hellhammer, Samoth, and others, are icons of Black Metal and we nurture a strong esteem towards them. But we want to specify that our music springs from our deepest thoughts and from our effort to transform these thoughts in music, without any predetermination.
Through listening to our songs, we want to be able to read, between the lines of every single riff, a message which can impart unique sensations and be interpreted thanks to those personal thoughts from which it took form since the beginning.

10. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Have you had any offers to tour outside of ITALIA...what are some of the bands that you have shared the stage with?

NEFARIUM: We played with bands like Pentacle, Desaster, Abhor, Mortuary Drape etc., mostly in our country.
The proposals which we received till now concern some dates abroad and we are organizing some concerts with Grief of Emerald.
Unfortunately, the job of each member of NEFARIUM poses some restrictions to long trips, but undoubtedly, you will see us soon in Italy and Europe to promote PRAESIDIUM.

11. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Can we expect any new Cd, Ep, Lp in the near future?

NEFARIUM: We are finalizing the songs which will be part of the new Cd and for sure we will start recording them within 2 or 3 months.
Whoever has had the opportunity to listen to PRAESIDIUM will not be deluded by our work for speed and aggressivity.
We believe that the new pieces are like an evolution of our music and this time we are counting on the support of more powerful and adequate recording equipment.

NEFARIUM: We do not believe and we are not particularly relying on the commercial aspect for what concerns NEFARIUM. We prefer to offer you a sincere Black Metal music and we take this opportunity to make known that on the website, it is possible to download 3 songs of PRAESIDIUM for free.
Our primary concern is the communicative aspect, with the hope that the listener can understand our message of hate and anger towards those elements that can be personal for each one and that, for us today, mean Christianity and hypocrisy.
