RELLIK interview for Dark Recollections 'zine

Interview answered by Mike

1. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: When did the hellish death war machine known as RELLIK come to existance?
MIKE: Rellik formed in February of 2000, nearly six years ago. We were all pretty young then; our ages ranging from 20 to 16.

2.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Introduce the current line up...who does what, plays what instruments?

MIKE:
Mike Coniglio-guitar/vocals
Brandon Waszak-bass
Phil Hardman-drums
Johnny Dove-lead guitar/vocals

3. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What has RELLIK released so far... (demos,Eps, Cds) and what has the response been like...can people still buy demos?
MIKE: so far we have released:
Borne of Wind and War (EP)-2001
Blessed by the Gods with Fire (EP)-2003
Heritage of Abomination-2004

We've gotten nothing but good responses from friends, fans and interviewers. No one has ever ripped us apart. However I'd still like to get some more press. In this case it's quantity, not quality that I'm disppointed in. And yes, we still have plenty of cd's left. Interested parties should contact us through our website: www.rellik.cc

4. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: are you aware that there is another band with RELLIK as a name from Pennsylvania u.s.a?

MIKE: Yes. As far as I'm aware they came out after us, but they'd probably say the same thing. Honestly we didn't know about them when the name was made and I'm sure they didn't know about us either.

5.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Talk about your debut Cd "Heritage of Abomination" on United Guttural Records..

RELLIK *heritage of abomination* Cd available now on www.unittedguttural.comMIKE: It is the quintessential release for fans of extreme metal. I can't see anyone being disappointed in it whatsoever. It's fast, heavy and catchy. Theres nothing that is too technical, no arbitrary jazz break-ins and theres no pussy bullshit parts. If you like bands like Krisiun, Angel Corpse, Marduk, God Dethroned then this is the cd you have been waiting for.

6. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What was it like being on the studio for this album compared to other times you been to the studio?

MIKE: Not much different. We don't really feel much pressure. We're well rehearsed, competent and use our time well. We recorded "Heritage..." in only five days.

7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is the song "Before me the Lions Weep" about... what inspired its lyrics?

MIKE: Good question, very specific! It's about the creation of modern weapons of warfare and the utter destruction they bring. Instead of steel weapons that hack, slash and stab, we now have weapons that literally breathe fire, that explode and that annihilate entire cities. Warrior-heroes of old, brave men that became legends through fighting don't stand a chance on today's battlefield. Thats what the song is about. As far as what inspired them, I don't know, a fascination with war and it's affect on human beings.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Have you had any offers from other record labels to release "Heritage of Abomination" on vinyl?

MIKE: No, but we're looking and we're interested in shopping the disc.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Can we expect a new RELLIK Cd to be released in the near future?

MIKE: No. I am very happy with the way "Heritage..." came out and I'm in no hurry to follow it up. I don't want to crank out another album that can't match "Heritage...", I'd rather wait and write quality songs that will impress our fans again. I want a larger audience for the next cd and better distribution. So for now, we're just waiting, writing and rehearsing.

10.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What are some of the bands that you have shared the stage with... any bands you recommend checking out?

MIKE: SEVERAL Chicago bands. Disinter, Gorgasm, Forest of Impaled, Fleshgrind, Veneficum, theres lots. Some bigger acts we've played with include Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Kataclysm, Divine Empire and Origin. I recommend checking out Cardiac Arrest and Gorgasm if you haven't heard of them already.

11.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Have you had any offers to tour outside of U.S.A?

MIKE: No. But if that ever happens I'll probably pop a boner so big that it'll reach across the US and slap you in the face. You'd know it if it happened.

12.DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Any merchandise available? (list items, prices, and how to get stuff)

MIKE: Oh yeah we got cd's t-shirts and stickers. Nothing over ten dollars. Check our website www.rellik.cc

13. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Any last words, comments? thanks for the interview...
