SIMON: Kapnobatai "those who walk in smoke/mist" is a continuation of the previous albums and ventures far deeper into the other side of the looking glass, through the colorful illusion into the real world. Alot of the sounds was recorded close to where I believe the illusion is easily shattered, deep underground close to people on the verge of nervous breakdowns and psychological illnesses. The funny thing about sounds is that even though you cannot understand it your subconscious can decode say like someone feeling ill walking across the concrete floor, your subcouncious will decode the footsteps and understand the feelings of pain in how the feet touch the floor, how far away the sounds come and how rhytmic and timeless the flow of the feet is. But your waking sense often disregards these facts, so you are left with a feeling you cant put your finger on. That is what Kapnobatai and Atrium Carceri is alot about. Subtile psychological influence through careful planning and emotion.

6. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: what has it been like to work with CMI thus far?

SIMON: Great, 100% freedom of artistry and no bullshit.

7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: How would you describe your music to someone to has not heard it yet?

SIMON: Geometric dark and psychologic.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: can we expect a new ATRIUM CARCERI release on the near future?
Probably before the end of the year.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: when recording an ATRIUM CARCERI album in the studio... are the songs improvised in the studio, or are songs composed, rehearsed and perfected with time prior to recording?

SIMON: How I construct the material is too long to go into, but it all works seamlessly and Atrium Carceri is not constructed as say a rock band would record, there is no "latest guitarpart" or whatever, recording Atrium Carceri is more like painting, it is all about audio-experimentation and reaching for things not yet comprehensible... and layered with each deeper inner dive.

10. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: is ATRIUM CARCERI a studio only band... do you get to play live?

SIMON: I played live on WGT 2004 I think and sometime before that, but now my focus lies inside the studio as I have so many projects and so much work needs to be done.

11. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: are you involved in any other projekts besides ATRIUM CARCERI?(give names, and websites if any)

SIMON: Yes I actually have over 10 other projects, but none of them is even closely related to Atrium Carceri so I wont mention them here as the community probably has no affection for them at all and they are not part of the same experiment. Actually movie directors are allowed to make both horror and romantic drama films without anyone flinching, but a musician in these times are not allowed to do the same... yet. The walls will be lifted soon enough, but not today.
12. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: any ATRIUM CARCERI merchandise available from you?(list items, prices and how to get stuff)

SIMON: I actually am painting in the experimentation that is Atrium Carceri but those painting are not for public show just yet. Perhaps in the future my artwork will be sold, but as for now, not yet
