PATECABRA interview for Dark Recollections 'zine

Interview answered by LUJURIA MORBIDA.

1. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: For those not familiar with South American thrashing entity known as PATECABRA give a brief band bio...
LUJURIA MORBIDA: The band was spawned in 2004, as the closest thing to Hell on Earth in this little piece of Heaven I'm currently living on. You can imagine how shitty this place must be (it is). This involves me and no one else, after I had a band for a while, the thing just fell apart and then I realized what a pain in the ass is to keep a band together, specially in this town with absolutely no scene to speak of.
Afterwards, I went the "recording in PC" way. What I first intended for the "band" was to be a pure thrash project, however, as things went, and as I was heavily listening to things like POSSESSED, HELLHAMMER and the like, it didn't came out that way, but more in a black thrash metal style.

2. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Introduce the current line up...who does what, plays what instruments?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: Patecabra Line up is only me, Lujuria Morbida, the one behind ALL the weaponry in PATECABRA(vox, bass, guitars, and drums programming!!!)

3. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: How many demos if any... have been released by PATECABRA ... what has the response to demos been so far?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: The only thing released so far is the EP. The response? Most of the bangers out there either like it, love it, or hate the sound of the programmed drums. Can't blame them, as I was only starting on this, but as an amateur I didn't do it half as bad as many other who program their drums to sound like a typewriter.

4. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Why was PATECABRA chosen as a band name? (special meaning... translate name)

LUJURIA MORBIDA: "Patecabra" literally means "Goat's foot", and if you're familiar with some of the representations of the devil from the middle ages, then you know what it should mean.

5. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: There is talk about a Cd being released by Barbarian Wrath from Germany... tell us about this release...(name of Cd... number of songs, release date... etc)
LUJURIA MORBIDA: All songs are written almost entirely and hope to record and master in July of this year.

6. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: How did the deal with Barbarian Wrath Records come about?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: The thing is, when I first ran the voice about Patecabra, I posted the news on a couple of forums, one being a Chilean one and the other the BW official forum www.violentlyoldschool.org I was very keen in putting the news and some samples of the noise in this forum, because the people posting there are honest and tell you exactly what they think, which is, of course, much more valuable than having ass kissing, yes-men type opinions.
In the BW forum, the feedback was mostly favorable, then Black Goat (the man behind the BW label) e-mailed me saying he loved the samples and wanted to sign me for his label. I was surprised as hell to be offered a deal so damned fast, and after a while we cemented that.

7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Can we expect a full length Cd/Lp in the near future?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: Yes, I got 9 tunes ready for this which are going to suffer to some minor arrangements before being recorded. As I said, I hope to have it for this mid-year.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: What is the scene like where you live... any bands from your area you would recommend checking out?
LUJURIA MORBIDA: No scene here, sorry!!! As far as surrounding cities go, we got excelent bands in the Thrash / black metal style like FORCE OF DARKNESS, MISERYCORE, DEMONIZED, CHAOTIC BASTARD and who can forget AMMIT.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Do you get a lot of concerts in your area from international bands... what was the last show you went to.. and who did you see?
LUJURIA MORBIDA: mmmhhh, the last couple of gigs from international bands I went was JUDAS PRIEST in September last year and W.A.S.P., in July.
W.A.S.P. was much better. PRIEST is my favorite band, but to see them last year was kind of a dissapointment, too damn slow and lazy, they still try their best to deliver, but it felt like they were old and tired...too bad.
W.A.S.P. on the other hand were so heavy and bloodthirsty. I was absolutely psyched and drooling like an idiot after that show!

10. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Have there been many PATECABRA live shows... what bands have you shared the stage with?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: No live shows so far, and non in the nearest future as far as I'm concerned.

11. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: There is a cover of the classic theme "Crucifixion" by Hellhammer on Ep... why was this song chosen... were there other songs that could have made it to Ep?

LUJURIA MORBIDA: No, actually the idea was to record only the original noise on the EP. I recorded the HELLHAMMER cover purely for fun, but seeing as how it turned out, I decided to include it on the EP, it kinda fitted, don't you think?

12. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Any merchandise available from the band? (list items, prices, and how to get stuff?)

LUJURIA MORBIDA: Just the EP. No money here, man!!! if you want the EP, mail me to [email protected] and let me know. The price is US $4, and that includes the shipping.

13. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: any last words, comments? Thanks for the interview

LUJURIA MORBIDA: No.... thank YOU!! Maybe this doesn't mean much to you, but I was psyched to appear in the same webzine as the mighty VULCANO. Well, not on the same issue, but close enough! Keep worshipping the one with the hoof. 666!!
