MIKE: Yes.





4. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: how hard was it to find the right band members to form what you envisioned LOSS should sound like?

MIKE: Well at first it seemed very hard.We were all very close friends to begin with and each of us were looking for some type of project to work on in different Metal genres and then one night it just sort of dawned on us "why dont we all collaborate on one project together?". While each of us comes from different sub genres of metal and music in general (Black,Thrash,Darkwave, Traditional and Dark Metal) Doom Metal was the one that we all felt strongest about and drew the most influence from thus Loss was born to score your funeral...And as i stated before we decided our direction should be to create the Saddest music possible plain and simple.

5. how would you describe your music to someone who has not heard it yet?
MIKE: Personally I would describe Loss as Funeral Doom...drawing influence from Candlemass to Katatonia,Worship and Skepticism to Witchfinder General,Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus.We are influenced by the ENTIRE DOOM spectrum.Our music is SLOW,Sad,melodic i suppose and cuts like a razor through the wrist...Detuned with low Growls,whispers and shrieks.clinical depressionset to music.Truly we hope to inspire depression,self mutilation and or suicide,drug absuse and to achieve an atmosphere which would remind you of being at the funeral for the death of someone you hold dear. Total feelings of Loss.

MIKE: We have released the following thus far:

we have recorded a cover of Brave by Katatonia for the official tribute on Northern Silence and we have splits planner with Mistress of the Dead [czech republic] and Mournful Congregation [australia] though these splits will come after the release of our full length on Weird Truth coming this summer. we are writing this Dirge now...beware. 7. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: what has the response to your music being like so far?

MIKE: The response has been very positive thus far.

8. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: talk about your latest release "Life without Hope... Death without reason" on Deathgasm Records...

MIKE: This is our demo. it was released officially by Weird Truth(who we are signed with for our next album as well) on cassette.Evan and Alex von DEATHGASM are very much into our music so they released it along with 2 live bonus tracks on CD. the demo is comprised of three hymns...Coffin Nails,which is a suicidal doom ritual i performed in the studio and works as out intro followed by Conceptual Funeralism Unto The Final Act [Of Being] and Cut Up Depressed And Alone....These are 2 songs we wrote in teh saddest hours of that year drawing inspiration from loss,mental illness,substance abuse,alcoholism,anger and just plain despair and hopelessness.

9. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: what is the song "the barebacked burial of a torn angel" about and what inspired its music and lyrics?

MIKE: This song is about an angel sunken into the pale arms of Death,wings torn off,moist labia spread,sodomized fucked and forgotten,buried and rotting.... the music and lyrics were inspired by old 80s and 90s Death and Black Metal and serves as our tribute to that amazing and magical period in Metal history. it didnt fit with our normal doom stuff so we released it along with a Goatlord cover,on LP with our comrades Necros Christos. this band is amazing. check them out at all costs. we both did simillar songs and a Goatlord cover to honor a genre that has crumbled in our eyes into mediocrity.

10. DARK RECOLLECTIONS: Can we expect a new Cd/Lp from LOSS in the near future?

MIKE: yes we are preparing our new Funeral hymns now...await and beware...they will be some of the darkest this genre hasever seen or felt. they will leave scars like graves in your skin.it should be released by Weird Truth in early Summer.after our tour with Keen Of The Crow(ex-Morgion)

11 DARK RECOLLECTIONS: do you get to play live much... what can anyone expect at a LOSS show... how do people react to your music?

MIKE: we play live when there are worthy bands to play with. we dont jump at every gig offered as we feel our music is special and we should preserve the feelings and atmosphere for propper times. we have played with Khanate,Zoroaster,Avulsion,Place of Skulls,Superchrist and Octagon thus far.with a tour lined up for this spring for the Eastern USA Keen of the Crow and some other bands i cant recall at the momment.
