Ownership

Most every terrain square will always have an owner (combatant). The only exception are terrain types where ownership might me disabled as for instance the "Deep Water" terrain type in the "Panama" scenario (and this will vary by scenario).

With no other units or properties present, every terrain square will have a default owner including a "popular support" value.

Example: The square "21-40" in the "Finland" scenario has the combatant Finland as owner with a popular support value of 0.2. If an opponent intends to take ownership of that square, he/she will have to move units into the vicinity in order to top that value (see "Power Projection").

Ownership of a square has a number of advantages:

  • Any economic points assigned to that square are added to the owners total
  • The owner is able to use any terrain property such as an airport or harbor
  • If the square is a supply point, the owner will be able to use it to provide for his supply units.
