"MOTHER'S GIFT"

Night of meteor shower,
week of eclipsed moon
I can hear you sigh and whisper,
from another room.
The crackling of the fireplace,
each breath you draw in
Shallow beating of your heart,
soft voice from within.

I can hear your restlessness,
in the dark of night
Struggling to sit up in bed,
or humming a sweet lullaby.
I can hear the rosary beads,
move within your hand
As you pray for HIM to take you,
to HIS heavenly land.

I can hear you calling out,
for someone who is there
Just the knowing we will answer,
comforts all your fears.
Sometimes I hear you weeping,
wiping away the tears
Knowing you are leaving us,
the pain your children will bare.

When your journey is completed,
I will remember this
You have been a treasured blessing,
we will sorely miss.
Caring for you is such a gift,
worth it's weight in gold
Now I know I can make it,
your spirit has taught me so.
