Broken Heart

Here I am in the Doctors office
Waiting, Oh! so nervously,
Will there be another symptom to find
Something else wrong with me?

Anxiety, panic takes over
Controlling my total mind,
Thoughts running wild and rampant
Blood pressure above systolic line.

Magazine becomes a fan
Cooling brow from the sweat,
Clock is a reminder of the time
No peaceful moment, nor rest.

Four walls seem to be closing
Claustrophobia is setting in,
Room is getting too crowded
Wonder if the Doctor is in?

Breathing becomes more rapid
Oxygen intake is high
Adrenaline racing through the heart
Feeling as though I could die.

Now it's my turn to see her
Diagnosis written in the chart,
Physical completed for another year
No surgeon can mend this broken heart.
