In Memory of
Captain John Ogonowski

LOST WITHOUT YOU

I have no race, color or creed, no religion or status, lost identity
I am not a man, woman, nor child, only a face without a smile.
Human to the touch, my soul I grieve, eyes crying uncontrollably
In my hands trembling with fear, a photo of someone who is not here.

Deep beneath the earth, twisted metal, sand and stone
Lay my true love, my heart, my very own.
Mother, father, sister, brother, relative, a friend
Daughter, son, child of mine, help me Jesus through this time.

I suffer not all alone, thousands upon thousands searching too
For something tangible to behold, a lost treasure would simply do.
A purse, briefcase, piece of jewelry, gold filled tooth
I would settle for anything, even a scorched fireman's boot.

I stand before you naked, take a look at me
Crying out so helpless on National TV.
Never forget the horror and the pain on my face
As we stood together, to salvage, one human race.

In memory of the families who have lost a loved one in this tragedy.
