GAMBLER

Payday is on Friday, can hardly wait to cash my check
To indulge in the Lottery and place a few more bets.
Setting a limit on spending has never been the case
Once I start scratching tickets, money is on the chase.

Ticket after ticket, my mind truly convinced
If I buy the next one, I will surely win.
Hours have passed by, down to my last dollar
Satan has a hold on me, tickets have the power.

Food to buy, no cigarettes, bills are adding up
Who can I turn to for a loan, just need a few more bucks.
Conning and manipulation is my source to stay alive
How can I look in the mirror and live with all those lies.

Guilt and shame I live with, deceit my middle name
Gambling is a lifestyle, no longer fun and games.
Too expensive for me, compulsion I no longer can afford
Time to get off this merry-go-round, straighten my life once more.

Thank God I had the foresight to see in front of me
How life could have been much worse had I continued the Lottery.
Now I live a frugal life, saving all that I can
Setting straight priorities, salvaging who I am.
