"WONDERLAND"

She lies in slumber,
dreams of winters past
Time in her childhood,
she a pretty, young lass.
Sleigh ride with family,
singing aloud, "jingle bells"
Snowman she built,
warmth of sun would surely melt.

Sledding and sliding down snowy,
icy slopes
Cold were the nights,
bundled up in flannel clothes.
Mother made hot chocolate,
sweetened marshmallow
Sitting in the darkness,
softly shadowed with lit candles.

These are the times she remembers the most
Times that were happy,
life for her was all aglow.
Married with children,
wife and Dr. she came to be
Devoted to her patients,
taking care of family.

Now she awakens to her physical decline
Parkinson has taken over,
but not her sharpest mind.
Her balance uneven,
her writing harder to read
Signing name to medical documents,
Dr. Mary Fohlin.

Bones that once were strong,
now have rigidity
From a cane to a walker,
debilitating mobility.
Retired from a life,
once fulfilled with happiness
Wintry dreams in slumber,
wonderland of snowy bliss.

Dr. Mary Fohlin
now rests with the Angels, as of August 4, 2005
She was a true inspiration and a lady of great compassion / love.
I will miss her dearly.
