WILL YOU REMEMBER ME?

Will you remember me,
long after I am gone
Become a fainted memory,
or a closeness you long?
Will you tell old stories,
spread rumors and lies
Speak highly of who I was,
forgive guilt feelings you hide?

Will you remember me,
last time we had our talk
Or the hug you so needed,
when your heart felt so lost?
Will you remember me,
time I wiped away your tears
Reaffirming insecurities,
chasing away all your fears?

Will you remember me,
sound of sincerity in my voice
Advice I'd given you,
alternatives, options, and choice?
Will you light a candle,
keep the flame burning bright
Whisper a silent prayer to me,
on your knees in the night?

Will you place fragrant flowers,
leave a remembrance for me
As I await at Heaven's gate,
for eternal peace and harmony?
Will you celebrate anniversaries,
in the graveyard where
Remains are in the ground,
while the spirits envelop the air?

Will they remember us,
long after we are gone
To keep alive our legacy,
for many generations to come?
What will they think then,
who will remind them of us
To share with the world we knew,
the true meaning of love?
