The Grand Foyer
The Grand Foyer is located in the heart of the State Floor, and it serves as the main foyer of the Chateau.  To the North is the Lower Catherine Hall, to the South is the Center Room, to the East is the Marx Guilligan Hall, Picture Gallery, and State Dining Room, and to the West is Music Room, Grand Stairs and Blue Room.

The Grand Foyer connects all the rooms together and it is by far known best as the "Great Passage"
The Grand Foyer is used also for many ceremonial occasions. During State Visits, the President and First Lady decend the Grand Stairs form the Residence to the Strains of the President's Anthem with their State Guests. The President also recieves and welcomes his guests at the foot of the Grand Stairs. The Room is panelled in oak wood painted off white. In 2006, a navy blue and gold carpet in an U shape was installed into the room.
