The Chateau  Historical Association

The Chateau Historical Association was formed in conjuntion with the Chateau visitor's Center in 1955 when public interests for the Preisdent's House soared and the Government believed it was important to showcase the Nation's halls of politics to the public.

After all, State Hall and other national monuments had long been opened for tours and events. They, the Chateau Historical Association took up residence at Portsmouth Road just next door to the Presidential Mansion. The Historical Association also has a branch at Threed, where it looks into the history of the Presidential Residnece of Lodge No. 7.

One of the key roles the historical association plays is in the upkeedping of the Chateau's 100 plus rooms. Each administration elects a committee at the start of the President's Term in Office, however most of the time, the members remain the same due to their highly quilfied expertise and specialization. This committe has historians, curators as well as well-known designers and restoration experts who dedicate time and effort into the upkeep of the mansion. and the most wonderful thing of all, is that this committee works on a totally voulntary basis!

The Historical Association also is incharge of the President's Verious official collections, such as his Pin Collection and Model Collection. The most famous of all would be perhaps the Chateau in Miniature, often hailed as one of the most extensive and expansive dollhouse in the the world.  It also catologues and monitor the some 600 different pieces of art, ranging from more then 200 paintings, 200 furnishings and 200 odd scuptures and other artifacts.

The historical association is the public face of the history of the Chateau.
