The Blue Room
History & Tours
"The Blue Room is used for receptions....of all sorts" qouted many Presidents. If the Garden Room was the First Lady's tea room, then the handsome Blue Room is the President's Reception Room. Formerly part of the Royal Suite, the Blue Room has been used for recieving State Guests and holding Official Talks. The Room went under dramatic transformation in 2003, when Mrs. Kedinsky redecorated it with handsome Blue Wall paper and twentieth centuary artwork. The Chandalier dates back to the start of the Chateau and it was installed in many rooms but looked best here.
THE BLUE ROOM TODAY
The Blue Room today is decorated in the Federal American Period with progressive art work as it's central theme. Paintings from the early 20th century dorminate the room. The Preisdent also uses it from time to time to meet visiting Heads of State or formal tea receptions. Small Luncheons for 36 people are also held here. The room houses the Blue Room Collection consisting of four unmatching Sharaton Style Chairs and the famous Blue Matha E Grangor Lolling Chair and matching stool.
The Blue Room as seen in September 2005. The famed painting of "Party at the Ambassador's House" was moved back form the Music Room.
