The State Dining Room is often used for gatherings of all sorts....

This is what First Lady Sophyer used to say, and she is not wrong. Being the wife of the the First Preisdent of this nation, Mrs. Sophyer had to use the State Dining room to hold all sorts of funtions, even those not associated with eating. Hop scotch competitions were once held here by Mrs. Sophyer on Children's Day and she used to give speaches on Founders day here in this room. However in recent times, this room has served a more elegent purpose.
