| The Reagent Ground Room The Regent Ground Room is often uesd by the Presidnet to hold small meetings and discussions before entering the ajacent Cabinet Room. Part of a series of rooms with belies the Ground floor below the south Portico, the reagent Ground Room derives it's name from the portrait of the Prince Reagent which dominates the room's east wall. In the 1900s, the room was used as a storage and during the two world wars, served as a map room. It once was even used as a makeshift bed room for the 24 hr's war room which had to operated during the 1940s due to the international crisis. THE REAGENT GROUND ROOM TODAY Today, the room is used for informal meetings and small luncheons. CAbinet Members also meet for their post cabinet meetings in this room, as does the Press Scretary when Preparing to meet the press two rooms away in the Press Briefing Room. The Room today has been decorated with a historic wall paper depicting the scenes of the French revolution, and the decor comprises of hues of deep reds and green. VISITING Though not on the regualr public tours, if you do get a chance to peak into this room, take a look at it's intreging portrait of the Prince Reagent. |
