2004 |
As the year comes to an end, we rope in our very on Horticulturist and landscape designers to transform the Kluger Terrice into the Winter Garden. This year, beautiful scuptures of snowmen and other holiday delights. Some of the features will be discussed and shared with you so that you too can transform your very own backyard into a winter garden too! The Kluger Terrice is often also known as the Season Garden, because four times a year, the terrice undergoes a transformation to fit the season. Horticulturist Mimme Driver explains: "The Garden is revamped four times a year to fit the season. We give ourselves two weeks for full transformation and one week for the flowers to bloom. Typlically, we will begin working on the Autumn Garden late Fall, as around early november, so as to get the Winter Garden ready by mid november. We obviously need the weather to get cold enough before our plants can germinate and bloom in the frost! We will first remove all plantings of the past season. Dont get me wrong, we dont kill the plants, we just remove them to be rehoused at another part of the Chateau till the end of their season. After than, we move in the planter boxes and mark out the soil for the next season. We never start growing the plants from seeds as it will take too long. So we bring in fully mature plants just premature from blooming. For the winter garden, we are working on winter plants from the tundra and other beautiful flowers which work well with the Christmas colour scheme. Look out for the first out door christmas tree! Of course there will be the Winter Gardens Tour some time in January." The Winter Garden will be on display from the 6th of December through the 20th of January 2005. |
