At Home
Text by Mrs. Cherre
The Family Room looking west into the Ambassadors Sitting Room In the Fore Ground is a Grand Piano donated by the National Music Association during Presdient Kedinsky's First Few Months in the Chateau. An Avid Pianist, President Kedinsky enjoyed hosting informal recitals in the Residence.
The Ambassador's Sitting Room is not as formal as the name implies. Mrs. Kedinsky had the room decorated in plushy baige and pink. Mrs. Cherrie has maintained this scheme. The Room reflects personal ornaments and momentos beloning to the First Family. Mrs. Cherrie has pictures of her Son Gavin and the family's dog, Ophilia enjoys sleeping on the rug.

The East Sitting Room is just off the Sophyer Suite. Many Presidents has had informal late night discussions with their Guests who stay overnight at the Chateau. One of the more formal rooms in the chateau, it is often a scene of fun and joy when the visiting Guest kicks back and plays a game of cards with the President or First Family.

" The Second Floor Hallway also known as the the upper Catherine Hall is often used as an informa place for me to host tea with our firends, and also with formal guests. When we hosted the Schoreders over at the Cahteau for the State Visit in January 2005, we had a reception befor the State Dinner up here. The Presidnet would give the Chancellor and Mrs. Schoeder a quick explanation of the Residence and a persoal tour of the Sophyer Suite. We had this room recarpeted in August of 2005, as the carpeted was getting old and dirty. It currently bosts a off white, yellow carpen from Yeves and Loruen Carpents, installed by my good friend and designer, Bill Hickman."

"Our Family enjoys sitting together after dinner in the Ambassador's sitting room which is just off the President's Study and Gavin's bedroom, or the Robert Kennerdy Room to kick back and relax. We often enjoy sitting on the North Belcony, overloking the North Lawn on evenings when it is not too cold. we will be able to enjoy stunning sunsets from time to time. We now have three dogs running around the house, and most of them have their favourite spots on the belcony." notes Mrs. Cherrie.

"Whenever Gavin is back home, which has been only for short stint of the weekend, and then again not much, we have managed to catch a movie in the Green Sitting Room, just off the Robert Kennerdy Room. We have a big TV there!" So far, we have not hosted any official dinners, but in the past, President's would use the Robert Kennerdy Room to host Pre Dinner Receptions."

"Dinners are often fixed by the Butlers and Maids for i dont cook, but we really enjoy having dinners together with family and friends in the Family Dinign Room, which has been redecorated to cream, because our family likes that colour for our dining space."

"President Cherrie enjoys working in the evenings, when he comes 'home' from the Golden office,  in his study in the southwest corner of the Second Floor. We had it renovated to a 'red room' and the President really likes the scheme chosen. We don't stay up late, for we value resting, so we're often off to bed by 10!"

Upstairs, our family's suite makes up of our bedroom, a dressing room, the President's Study. And across from the Ambassador's Sitting Room is Gavin's bedroom, his study, and the Blue Bedroom. Where our guest and friends stayover.
Mrs. Cherrie enjoys hosting friends over at the Upper Catherine Hall.
The Thomas Cherrie Room, also known as the President's Study, is traditionally named after the President in Office.
