The double chocolate chip cookies were for the chocolate addict in all of us but this recipe...well don't try it unless you have a die hard addiction! They are only for the most devoted chocoholics!!!

In a saucepan combine:
1/3 c. carnation evaporated milk
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp water
1/2 square unsweetened chocolate or substitute 1 tbsp cocoa and 2 tsp marj.

Cook over medium heat til smooth and set aside.

Cream:
1/2 c. shortening
Blend in:
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 squares of unsweetened chocolate or substitute 3 tbsp cocoa and 6 tsp marj.

Add:
1 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
Stir in 1/2 c chopped nuts if desired.

Pour half the batter into a greased 8” square pan.
Spoon half of the chocolate sauce over top.
Cover with remaining batter.

Bake in a 350F = 180C oven for 25 – 30 minutes.

Spread remaining chocolate sauce over top and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of chopped nuts if desired.

Broil for 1 – 3 minutes or until bubbly.

Yes, this recipe may seem like a lot of work but trust me when I say it can soothe even the most ardent chocolate lover.

They are sticky and gooey but by the Gods they are delicious!
