Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America assembled, that this Act may be cited as the "Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990"

    Justices Unanimously Narrow the Scope of the Americans With Disabilities Act

In a unanimous decision, the U.S. Supreme court has held that to be entitled to protection under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), a person must have an impairment that "prevents or severely restricts " him from doing activities that are of "central importance to most people's daily lives" and not just activities associated with the workplace.
