Research Report
99 percent of 8,000 plumbers in the State of
Connecticut knew nothing about this law until after it
was enacted.
Most of the legislators who voted on this bill didn't
know what they were voting on.
The law, as written, creates yet another layer of
bureaucracy.
There are better ways to keep us all updated and
informed.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
$140.00 x 8000 Plumbers = $1,120,000.00
We haven't figured out where the money is going, but we
will be tracking it. Additionally, who is in charge
of the funds and who is the responsible person to
ensure the million dollars are spent in the right place?
Stay tuned for the answer. It's going to be interesting.
ARE WE AGAINST EDUCATION?
We are 100 percent in favor of education. I think we
all agree that we are always learning in our business.
There is a better way to keep us all informed.
For instance - The Internet - The State could easily create
a Website or set up an E-Mail database to notify us
of Code changes or other information they deemed
necessary. (The state has no problem sending our
license renewal forms or collecting our license fees)
so a database already exists. If that's to elaborate,
why not pass information via Tech bulletins
similar to the Pactor Company's Plain Talk Bulletin
or the Beckett Technical Information bulletins? Again
the State has all our names and addresses and could
easily forward this information via U.S. Mail.
HOW THIS LAW WAS PASSED WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE
A small group convinced the powers to be that this
training was necessary. Read the transcripts
carefully and your question will be answered. My local
legislators admitted they didn't know what they were
voting on. Check with your local Officials and let us know the
answer
you get.

HOW TO REPEAL THE LAW ***
Good question, as we speak there is a Bill being
proposed to modify or repeal this law. The way I
understand it, the law committee must agree to allow
the newly proposed law (to repeal) to get to a public
hearing. I'm told they must act on this by February 3rd.
If it goes to a public hearing we must go to Hartford to
testify.

We had coffee 2 weeks ago and discussed our
frustration with the law. All of us decided to take some
type of action and try to change a law that was not in
the best interests of 8,000 plumbers in the State of
Connecticut. We decided to mail out postcards to
every license holder to advise everyone and get back
input and information as well. By the way, so far
every response has been positive and everyone agrees
this law, as it stands, stinks.
Most importantly, we need you! If we all work together,
we have a shot to repealing this law. Please get
involved. This Website will be updated weekly.

We must be vigilant, State bureaucracy coupled with
special interest groups would love to
include more licenses and add more bureaucracy at our
expense. We must ban together and prevent that from
occurring. ***
