LETTER TO THE EDITOR

DEMORCRACY IN ACTION

   Recently enacted legislation (SB 501 aka PA02-142) requires 8,000 licensed plumbers to attend mandatory yearly classes. This legislation is no more than another unfunded mandate that adds another layer of bureaucracy to Connecticut business.  The cost to attend (approx.) $750.00 per plumber X 8000) will ultimately be passed on to Connecticut consumers.  The initial legislation was proposed and pushed thru by special interest groups without the knowledge of 8,000 licensed plumbers. Thanks to the wisdom and leadership of the Connecticut General Law Committee, the issue will be debated March 10 in Hartford . This time, 8,000 plumbers were informed.
