Dear Representative, I am a licensed plumbing contractor and have been in business for 35 years managing six to eight employees. On Saturday, March 5, I completed the nine hour Continuing Education Course for P.1 License Holders. Not only were there fifty plumbers in a room that had a stated occupancy of twenty-five but the nine hours spent were a total waste of time and lost revenue. I heard nothing that I didn't already know. This seemed to be the general consensus among the men taking this course. This course, required by Public Act 02-92, will discourage qualified young people from entering the plumbing and electrical fields and increase what is already a serious shortage of manpower. I certainly hope that this flawed bill will shortly be repealed. Very truly yours, Peter W. Kunkel, Forger-Kunkel Plumbing and Heating |
