Geoffrey ThorpeGeoff is a quintessential man of the sea. He made a living before the great escape as an able seaman aboard fast merchant ships traversing in and out of Darkhaven. It was there that he first met Edmond Drayton while coordinating a delivery to the shipyards. Edmond's eagerness to learn about the trade endeared him to Geoff and they became fast friends. On his days of leave, Geoff would teach Edmond how to handle himself on board a ship. In return, Edmond taught Geoff how to read. He was among those that went to work for Edmond in his first enterprise, building walls and houses at the first settlement. It didn't compare to the rush of the waves, but it was better than nothing.
The move to the Silver River Delta was like a breath of fresh air for Geoff, though. When Edmond was appointed to develop the town's harbor, Geoff was his first choice to work with the captains and sailors in administering the quays. His job is primarily to act as a liaison between Edmond and the crews, making sure that everyone gets what they need and everyone gets in and out of the quays safely. This also puts Geoff in charge of the harbor pilots. If he's not on the quays overseeing the work crews, Geoff is out in the delta charting the currents and shoals. Edmond trusts Geoff implicitly and Geoff would never do anything to break that trust. Their friendship runs too deep and Geoff enjoys his independence in doing his job too much for him to jeopardize that.
