The Black Army Rank Structure
Kindly created by Jammy
Black Army Dress Uniform
It is black with red trim, unless stated otherwise, with a high, closed, round collar. It features rolled back cuffs with silver hardware, and red accenting. The pants (that's trousers, to those of us in England) are black, and piped in red. See individual division pages for more information on uniform specifics.

Officer Corps
The Officers are the strategic and tactical leaders of the Army. They have been well-educated at various academies, and are asked to look at the big picture: numbers, chances, terrain. They cannot afford to care about Johnny Tentpeg and his hurt leg when there is a mission and a battle at stake. Officers are responsible for accomplishment of the mission, it is their greatest priority. Only officers can recommend corporal or capital punishment. These is a very rare occurances, but they have been known.

| General | Responsible for the Army or a specific operation as a whole, answers directly to the High Commanders. Sets Army-wide Doctrine. |
| Colonel | Branch Commander, responsible for leading branch in combat, and maintaining discipline in garrison. Sets forth branch specific doctrine. |
| Lieutenant Colonel | The Executive Officer to the branch command, the LTC is responsible for assisting in day to day running of branch, monitoring and setting training doctrine, and leading in combat in absense of commander. |
| Major | Company Level commander, responsible for leadership of company, discipline, and company specific doctrine. |
| Captain | Executive officer to company commander, assistant to company commander, training and leading in absense of commander. |
| Lieutenant | Platoon leader, the lieutenant is responsible for the leadership of the platoon, does not handle discipline or doctrine. |

Sergeants Corps
Sergeants are the tactical and technical experts. They have the experience that the officers lack, oftentimes several battles under their belt. They spent time as the lowest soldiers and worked their way up: they know what it is like to be a private, hungry, cold and lonely. They are responsible for direct training and caretaking of soldiers, and maintaining good order and discipline. They maintain the regulation. A good sergeant will lose his rank, and his job, before he lets a messed-up uniform go uncorrected, or a soldier go hungry without good reason.

| Sergeant Major | No longer in the chain of command, a sergeant major is consult to the the battalion commander. He should be a hardened battlefield soldier, with a wealth of real life experience. The Sergeant Major's main priority is the health and welfare of the soldiers, and maintaining his sergeants' level of motivation and discipline. |
| First Sergeant | Same function as sergeant major, except for the company commander. |
| Master Sergeant | Works side by side with the platoon leader; given the inexperience of a lieutenant, the Master Sergeant is often relied on to give advice and, when the young lieutenant fails to perform, take charge and get the job done. Master Sergeants are older, more experienced soldiers. |
| Sergeant First Class | Leads at the squad level, responsible for direct leadership of the squad and its welfare. SFC's identify shortfalls in training, and work to overcome them at the squad level. The SFC is much closer to his soldiers than an officer for Master Sergeant, so oftentimes is not only a leader and trainer but also a counsellor. It is said that SFCs have the hardest job in the army, but the most rewarding. |
| Sergeant | The simple sergeant, this soldiers leads only a team, but is oftentimes older and more mature than the junior enlisted. Sergeants have less time to do team-specific training than SFCs. However, they are often highly motivated and strive to uphold all the standards, so they might make rank. |

Enlisted

| Corporal | These individuals are at the lowest level of leaders, they have no responsibility, but are often times more approachable than a sergeant, and have a bit more experience than a private. |
| Private | The Rank of the lowest soldiers. Privates make up the most of the troops. They are typically young and healthy, but inexperienced. They have no responsibility other than to follow orders. |
